How Regular Exercise Develops
Positive Thinking, Prevents Heart
Diseases – Prof. Emiola
Regular body exercise has been described as an agent of developing positive thinking and preventing heart diseases, irrespective of age, gender or occupation, Professor Lasun Emiola has said.

Prof. Emiola stated this on Tuesday at Musa Abdullahi Auditorium during a lecture presentation on Exercise for Health and
Fitness, as part of the Health and Fitness Week organized by the Department of Physical and Health Education (P.H.E). The speaker asserted that every individual should participate actively in body exercise because it improves health and strengthens physical, social and mental well-being.

While citing relevant examples of great leaders, Presidents and Administrators, who engage in physical exercise, including the Vice Chancellor, Professor Abubakar Rasheed, Professor Emiola advised for sports education in schools and the need for participation that will make students competitive in athletics.
“The combination of exercise and dieting prevents and rehabilitates hyperkinetic diseases and develops cardiovascular endurance,” he added. Speaking at the occasion, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Abubakar Adamu Rasheed, mni, MFR, expressed appreciation for the health and fitness week and advised that it should be conducted every semester. The Vice Chancellor remarked that in its effort to promote sporting activities and sports participation, the University would soon construct a sports village that would house different types of sports for students
and staff recreation. He said efforts are on to build more pitches of volley ball, squash, badminton and others sports within the next few months.
