Nadezhda Kotlyarova set up her first record in Karelian republic, which is a mother place for both of us. It was in summer, 2012 when she won 53,13 seconds in 400 m race competition. In winter, 2013 she achieved the result of a World-class athlete. Her best time in 400 m race competition is 52,38. Then she took part in the European Athletics Indoor Championships held in Goteburg, Sweden, and became a silver medallist. Up to her 10 year at school, Nadezhda Kotlyarova lived in a small Karelian town Suoyarvi and never thought of an athletics career.  Nadezhda moved to Petrozavodsk and studied at school with intensive sports training there. So she went in for sports only during her last year at school.

Nadezhda’s values Nadezhda has a young

daughter, and inspite of the complex training schedule her daughter is always a prime focus for her. Nadya takes her daughter with her to long training trips and the girl becomes familiar with sports from her early childhood. When asked about the main values in the sportswoman’s life, she replies without doubts that there is nothing more important than her family and her child.

How I got to know the champion

I met Nadezhda when I went in for track and field athletics some years ago. And she immediately became a role model for me. At that time I didn’t know that I trained in the same gym with a prospective world champion.

Now I watch with a sinking heart all the appearances of Nadezhda. Every time when I see her, in person or on TV, I’m motivated to train more diligent. She showed me that everything is possible. Not only sportsmen from big cities have opportunities to achieve high results. Everything depends only on you and your desire.

Nadezhda is a cult figure for me. She is a purposeful and successful person. She reaches everything because of her diligence and physical efforts.
