2. Our native town We live in St Petersburg. St Petersburg is our native town. It is the second largest city in Russia and one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Peter the Great began to build it as the Window on the West in 1703. St Petersburg became the capital of Russia in 1917. There are 65 rivers, arms and canals there with a lot of bridges. 3. The cultural centre Now our town is a cultural centre. There are a lot of museums, theatres, palaces, monuments, squares and parks in it. But there is a reserve in our city too. It is called Yuntolovo. We often go for a walk there. This is our favourite place to have a rest. 4. THE RESERVE YUNTOLOVO The reserve Yuntolovo is very big. There are some rivers there. They are the Glukharka river, the Yuntolovka river, the Black river, the Kamenka river. There is a big lake- the Lakhtinsky Razliv lake there too. A lot of different animals live there. 5. Wild animals live there too. There are 58 carnivores. 6. Ladoga seal, osprey, river otter and rou-deer live there too. All of them are in the Red Book. 7. Animals need our help. So, we feed them.
