USE OF LIMIT CURVES (MAX KG)
Use of limit curves is necessary only when a calculation for new loading condition, that deviate from
condition shown in stability book, is needed.
The Master has to check the new condition’s VCG (KG) against the “resulting max. VCG (KG) curve/table”.
For this action you have to consider the weights like:
-lightship weight;
-contents in tanks;
-cargo in tanks;
-ecc.
And get a the total weight (displacement), draft, trim and VCG value. To check this VCG against maximum
permissible VCG you have to use the curves in the following way (see also diagram):
1. get draft and trim;
2. get the actual VCG;
3. get the actual VCG corrected for free surface effect (see notes on use of free surface moments);
4. go to the x-axis that showing draft and draw a vertical line
5. get in consideration the intersection with the curve at the actual trim (if the actual trim deviates from
the reported ones, you can interpolate)
6. from this intersection draw an horizontal line until the y-axis where you can read the permissiblemaximum VCG at the actual trim and draft.

LOADING CONDITIONS
The following loading condition have been considered in this booklet.
FULL LOAD – DEPARTUREThis condition represents the ship in a sailing state, with all consumable tanks filled to 100%, with stores &spares loaded for a full deadweight load.
FULL LOAD - ARRIVALThis condition represents the ship on arrival at port, with the statutory minimum of 10% consumablesremaining on board, with stores & spares loaded for a full deadweight load.
BALLAST - DEPARTUREThis condition represents the ship in a sailing state, with all consumable tanks filled to 100%, with stores &spares loaded for a light deadweight load.
BALLAST - ARRIVALThis condition represents the ship on arrival at port, with the statutory minimum of 10% consumablesremaining on board, with stores & spares loaded for a light deadweight load.
Special NotesThe stability data have been prepared on the auusmption of following tank usage cycle:
1. Permanent ballast (34 tons) is considered located on board L,T,V 33.f-0p-0.30 into the DDBB no.4P, 4S and 4C in such a manner to prevent shifting of position.
2. Whenever special personnel is on board, fuel tank DB_04.C has to be kept full.
3. The original hold of the vessel to be transversally split into two hold by means of a transversalwatertight bulkhead.
4. 36.3 tonnes of permanent ballast have been arranged in lower hold area.
5. The fixed ballast arranged in the lower hold is EXCLUDED from light ship. It is separately loaded ineach load condition.

DAMAGE SCENARIO DEFINITION
