Hi, Mustangers. We had an-
other great show on June 22nd! We
didn't have early morning rain like
we did last year. It was fairly hot,
but not as hot as some years. Con-
gratulations to RJ Coberly and his
Show Committee for putting on a
fantastic show! We had a very
strong attendance of roughly 160
cars. The committee was well-
prepared and the show was well-
executed. Please refer to RJ's re-
port elsewhere in the newsletter.
Although the show is fresh in
our minds, we shouldn’t forget
about the events earlier in the
month. A number of our club mem-
bers attended the shows in Wichita
on June 1st. The Branson show
was on June 8 and several of our
members attended. The picnic was
June 16th. The food was great and
so was the attendance. Other infor-
mation can be found in Nona's Social
report.
On June 25th, the Wounded
Warriors Family Support 2013 High
Five Tour came through Kansas City.
We met the WWFS Shelby Super
Snake and caravanned with it to Co-
lumbia and Jefferson City. I was privi-
leged to drive the car from Jeff City to
Pensacola, FL. I'll write more about
that in next month's newsletter.
July will be less hectic. There
aren’t as many events scheduled due
to the expected summer heat. Please
note that our monthly meeting will be
on July 27th at Bill and Nancy Bloom’s

Fun Ford Weekend Now that the Annual Mustang & Ford Show is past, and (hopefully) your Mustangs are still spiffed up (mine’s not) from getting all shined up for the show, it’s time to start planning the road trip to St. Louis for Fun Ford Weekend at Gateway Mo-torsports Park in Madison IL, July 19-21st! Fun Ford Weekend is the Midwest’s largest and best All-Ford – only action with a 2-Day Car Show, Autocross and Drag Racing. The 2-Day Car Show will be judged both Saturday and Sunday with an awards ceremony each day. Saturday will be the Judge’s Top 25 Picks and the cov-eted Club Participation Award – which the Mustang Club of Greater Kansas City brought home last year beating out all the local Mustang and Ford clubs! All while ending the day with a cruise around the Gateway Motorsports Park NASCAR oval track! Sunday will be judged for Class Awards including two categories per Class – Conserva-tive and Modified. For example, Mustang 69-70 will potentially have a Winner and Runner Up for Conservative and a Winner and Runner Up for Modified. The Class Runner Up will receive a plaque and the Class Winner will receive a special 2013 Fun Ford Weekend winner’s jacket and a plaque. Rules for Conservative and Modi-
fied categories are available by clicking the link below. Fun Ford Weekend is proud to partner with the MCA for a very special award: The Mustang Club of America Best Mustang Award. Have you always wanted to see what your Mustang or other Ford can do on the quarter mile or can’t wait to get back out on the track again? There’s plenty of racing for your Street Machine!
FRIDAY: Test & Tune (all makes and models)
SATURDAY: VMP Superchargers True Street Shootout (street tires & mufflers req) and Time Trials for DOT Street Ford (street tires & mufflers req)

below, is up and running with registrations being taken. In Las Vegas, there will be a half marathon/5K run and all entrants (you actually don’t have to run,
you just have to pay your fees and register) will be eli-gible to win a one-off Shelby GTS Convertible. There are many events still being planned, so
check back at the website and we’ll keep posting up-dates as we see them come in.

ticipating in recently, don’t forget our
monthly cruise night at Bates City BBQ in
Shawnee on the 2nd Saturday of the month.
Our next cruise is July 13th .
Annual Show—by RJ Coberly
Our annual show was yesterday, and I hope all participants and attendees fully en-
joyed this year’s event. I especially want to thank the exceptional dedication and commitment
of the show committee members and club volunteers who were not only instrumental in the
design of the show but in its successful execution. We are also very fortunate as a club to
have an exceptional knowledge base of individuals with extensive show experience, and I
thank them for their valuable support.
Please patronize our sponsors, donors and vendors in your business and personal
needs since without them our show would be greatly diminished. This year’s sponsorship ban-
ner is included in this newsletter, and can serve as a handy reference of our contributors.
The financial results of the show will be complete in the near future and will be pre-
sented at an upcoming general meeting. This will of course include the amount to be contrib-
uted to Hope Lodge of Kansas City, this year’s designated charitable organization. And a sin-
cere thanks to Rachel Miller and Danica Cherry of Hope Lodge who attended the show and
handed out dash plaques during registration, it was great to have them in attendance.
The show field contained 159 cars. We had 6 states (Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska,
Iowa, Oklahoma and Arkansas) and the following 12 car clubs represented:
The Long Distance Award went to Daniel Persson from Kearney, Nebraska. The club
participation award went to the South Central Mustang Club from Wichita, Kansas. I believe
show attendance from outside the immediate KC area reflects not only the qualities of our
show, but the contacts of our many members and 5.0 award holders that travel to local and
national level shows, demonstrating our club’s enthusiasm and involvement in all things Mus-
tang.
Thanks to everyone for this additional level of promotion and thanks again to everyone for
making this year’s show a success and I hope you all had a wonderful time!!
Thanks
From Jack Bosic, Head Judge:
I want to thank all of the people that judged and scribed for our Annual Show. Everyone did a fantastic job and accomplished it in a timely
matter.
From Nona Hernandez, Hospitality,
Registration:
I personally want to thank all the club members
who helped me out with hospitality night this
past weekend and those who helped with regis-

can't do what I do without the good peo-
ple who help me and who make me look
good..lol! You are ALL winners in my book
and I am very grateful to work with such
a wonderful team on the show commit-
tee. None of us can do this alone....like
the saying goes "there's no "I" in TEAM"!!
And RJ, you are our "fearless leader" and
it's been a joy to serve the club as a part
of your team. Thanks to everyone.....our
show ROCKED!!!
Entered in the Car Show? No problem! Classes listed above are all eligible for Car Show partici-pants – Judges don’t count off for that day’s track rubber. (I’ve seen a lot of tactics for removing track rubber from a fender or wing like using brake cleaner, but I’ve never seen anything take track rubber off a quarter panel faster and better than GrimeBoss hand wipes, and it’s totally safe for your paint.)
Those with a 5.0L are encouraged to sign up for the MustangGuys.com Fastest 5.0 Shootout, it’s FREE with your Car Show entry.
HELMET REQUIREMENT: NHRA rules for 2013 state that "any car running 14.00 and quicker in the
1/4 mile requires a Snell 2005 or
newer OR SFI 41.1A helmet.
There are no exceptions to this rule; we suggest sharing helmets. It worked out great last year.
We’re not done yet! Fi-nally test your skills and your Mustang’s agility through the cones on the very popular Auto-cross course both Saturday and Sunday from 10:00am – 4:00pm, it’s also FREE with your Car Show or Race entry. Yes, a helmet is required for Autocross too.
Come on! Let’s defend our title as the BEST FORD CAR CLUB in the Midwest! Did I mention you get to drive your Mustang on the OVAL TRACK and Car Show Winners get a jacket?!
