The Murrays Bay Intermediate carparks are for teachers entering and leaving only please. Many parents (despite our barrier arm) are accessing this area and dropping off their primary or intermediate aged children by the MBIS gymnasium. This creates a hazard for cars in this narrow space, as well as most importantly, students on foot, or their bikes or scooters, who are dodging cars. Students on bikes or scooters should also be walking their wheels once in the school grounds. For the safety of all children, can we please ask that you use the drop off zone only, our MBIS Bus Bay.

The first Student Led Conferences for the year will be held on Tues 4th April (3.15-8pm) and Wednesday 5th April (3.15-6pm) -you choose which day. This is an opportunity for you to meet with your child’s teacher/s and to discuss with them how the year is progressing, and their learning goals for 2017. The conference is led by the student who will present evidence of their learning and where they are on their learning journey. The Technology and Arts teachers will also be available for a conference, as will the ELIP teachers, Miss Wallace and Mrs Hendrikse. ELIP Conferences will be held in the International House next to the school. Mr. McGhie will be available for conferences about the Band Programme / Learning Support. If you would like interviews with any of these teachers please indicate online. We will be booking conferences electronically. This is how you do it. http://www.schoolinterviews.co.nz/ The event code is qm4je for parents. This will go live from Monday 20th March.

1. Parents need to enter their name, email, number of children you will be booking for, and your child’s name /s. Press Go.

2. Choose a subject or room, and the teacher’s name once pressed should appear. Once happy with your selection of teachers press Go.

3. Choose the times you want for each teacher. Missing boxes indicate that a time has already been booked. Back to back bookings are not advisable. Please ensure you are booking the right date-choose either the Tuesday or Wednesday option. Press Go.

4. Your bookings will be listed on the next page. You can change bookings by simply returning to the site and entering the school’s code. An email will be sent to the address provided to confirm your booking.

5. Get in quick for your preferred time! Please note the following:

The conferences will take place in your child’s classroom. Student led conferences are 15 minutes in length. If you think you need a more lengthy conference please contact the class teacher to make arrangements for a

conference at another time. School will close at the normal time on both days. PLEASE NOTE-that classes in the Kawau Quad will be running their conferences slightly differently-separate

information will go out to families who have children in this part of the school with conferences to be booked using Google forms, BUT if you would like to see other staff members outside of the Quad, please use the booking system described above.

R42 teacher Jess Grinlinton will be holding her Conferences early Term 2 - date to be advised.

We're a finalist in the 2017 AMI Community Grants! Now we need your help to help us make the final five so we can win our share of $20,000. Please follow this link www.neighbourly.co.nz to vote for MBI. Your vote could make a difference to us! This is part of our submission for this grant. Students from Murrays Bay Intermediate have designed a logo which Auckland Transport have made into a stencil. The students want to use this logo on safe walkways to Murrays Bay Primary and Intermediate Schools. They need funds for the paint and brushes to do this. This is the logo designed by one of the students that will be used on the walkways. Last week we sent out an email about the New South Wales ICAS Exams that happen in terms 2 and 3. If you would like your child to take part in these exams all the information is on our website. It is important that all money is received before the 24th March. Here is the link to the information https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ohoQsAQWmW-LCurZKFBl7sHgCSYVP_izfvVHbM0UUtE/edit On Tuesday 7th March, Murrays Bay Intermediate organised 256 students from surrounding Intermediate schools, to take part in the Annual zone Triathlon. Girls Cricket Zone Day Congratulations to the team who had a great Zone Day in week 5. With a relatively inexperienced team, we managed to win convincingly against Orewa by 10 wickets. We then had a hard fought battle losing to Northcross by only a handful of runs. We appreciated all the parents who came down to support. Thanks also to Jake, Krish and Aden for helping on the day. The team was: Ella Dorwood (C), Caitlin Jarvis, Ivy Mitchell, Zara Hooks, Janna Buaya, Sam Hayes, Riley Sheldon, Danielle Pattimore, Amy McGahan, Sarah Son and Georgia Astridge-Emery.
