Already we have had our Year 3 and Year 5 students take part in the NAPLAN Assessment Program last week, the Primary Cross Country has been run and the first of our Eisteddfod groups have performed. Over the next couple of weeks, we will have further Eisteddfod groups perform, the Primary Athletics Carnival, more representative sport and lots of other activities. As of next Tuesday morning, the Breakfast Program - “Breakfast With Trish” will be available for all students. Trish serves a nutritious breakfast of a choice of cereals, fruit, toast, muffins, pancakes etc depending on the season. As well as this, fruit juice is also served. A couple of weeks ago, information was given to students regarding the services of the mobile Dental Clinic that will be visiting our school late this year. Just to clarify a few points: This clinic is a private group who operates out of Sydney. It is not connected to NSW Health or the Education Department. The Federal Government has given $1000 for eligible school aged children to receive basic dental services over two consecutive years. The check up that would be done at this clinic would take some of the $1000 that has been allocated for children. In Cowra the School Dental Clinic is located at Cowra Public School and can be accessed for dental work. If you have any questions, please contact the school. At this year’s Cowra Eisteddfod, we have groups entered in singing, Verse speaking and Dance. Already we have had students perform in the Choir sections of the singing competition. They were absolutely magnificent. They sang beautifully, were disciplined in watching the conductor, Mrs Wilson and looked fantastic. They performed two songs, “Happy” and “Child of Song”. Congratulations on a mighty performance. For their efforts, they were awarded a Highly Commended. Congratulations to all the students from Years 3 & 5 who took part in the NAPLAN Assessments last week. The students sat for assessments in Language Conventions, Writing, Reading and Numeracy. Over 98% of our students took part in the assessment and they all handled this well. Results from these assessments will be sent to school in early September and will then be sent home soon after. Over the past two weeks we have had lots of sport taking place. Boys’ Hockey - a loss to Parkes Boys’ Soccer - a win against Canowindra. Girls’ Netball Divisional Day - won two out of the 3 games Primary Cross Country - results further on in the newsletter. On Monday, our Boys’ Soccer team will play their second round game against Bathurst. The game will be held in Cowra. Good luck to the boys. Thank you to Ewen and Trish Dun for assisting with the coaching of this team. Congratulations to all the children who went on the Stage 1 Excursion. It was a great success with the students still talking about it. From all reports our students were great ambassadors for our school and gained a lot from the venues they visited. Cowra Council recently changed parking regulations in front of the Infants Department. There is a new drop off zone west of the School Crossing in Myall St in the morning from 8am to 9.30am.

The “No Parking” rule is: you must not stop on a length of road to which a “No Parking” sign applies unless you are dropping off or picking up passengers or goods. You cannot stop for longer than 2 minutes. Fine is $169 + loss of 2 demerit points.

Kindergarten 2015

In order to start organising the

Kindergarten Orientation, we are asking for the

names of children who will be starting school in

2015 at Mulyan or are thinking about starting

school at Mulyan.

Could you please contact the

school with your child’s name,

birth date and address. It

would be appreciated.

Reforms to P&C Federation The NSW Parliament has introduced legislation to reform the

NSW Federation of Parent and citizens Associations, which has

suspended operation pending Supreme Court action. While

these reforms will not affect the day-to-day operation of

individual school P&Cs, they will introduce a new executive

structure which will ensure the Federation operates as a

modern and representative body on behalf of school P&C

Associations.

Each school’s P&C will be asked to vote for councillors and

delegates who will represent their electorate at the

Federation’s Annual General Meting and councillors who will

serve on the Federation’s Board of management. More

information will be available on the Department’s website: http://www.schools.nsw.aud.au/gotoschool/a-z/involement.php
