1 MultiSkilled Operator (MSO) JOB PURPOSE In this role you will be using your technical operations skills in a studio and live playout environment to support the production and delivery of broadcast content for BT Sport. Working alongside a team of Broadcast Engineers at the BT Sport broadcast facility in Stratford, East London,you will be operating technical equipment to support the requirements of programme makers and also the broadcast operations team. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Rig and derig technical equipment in a safe manner as directed to support production requirements. This may include cameras, lighting, sound, vision and graphics systems, and a range of other technical equipment. Assist freelance ‘craft’ specialist in the production of ‘live’ and prerecorded studio content as required. This may include cameras, lighting, sound, vision and graphics systems, and a range of other technical equipment. Operate technical equipment in the production of ‘live’ and prerecorded studio content as required. Operate EVS servers for the purposes of ‘live playout to air’ when edited programme content cannot be delivered for broadcast by file transfer. Work with the Engineering team to support the needs of production by means of continuous development and technical innovation. Report technical issues to the engineering team in a timely manner so that problems are addressed quickly , and with minimal impact on the BT Sport output. Support the Timeline Management team and individual Resource Managers in the delivery of costeffective programme making solutions to BT Sport production partners. Work with the resource bookings team to track the location of key studio equipment and make it available for production use. Work with the resource bookings team to coordinate the external ‘hire’ of equipment and to oversee the collection and delivery process as required. Comply with all Health and Safety policies and promote a positive safety culture in all areas at the BT Sport Studios. Build and maintain effective working relationships with production teams, craft specialists and other Timeline staff. At times you may be required to work at other Timeline sites, or on location.

Multi-­‐Skilled  Operator  (MSO)      

 JOB  PURPOSE

SKILLS,  KNOWLEDGE  AND  EXPERIENCE  

• Previous  experience  in  a  multi-­‐skilled  technical  operations  role,  or  significant  experience  in  at  least  one  field  of  technical  operation,  and  qualifications  in  either  Television  Production  or  Broadcast  Engineering  from  a  recognized  University.    

• Good  knowledge  of  tapeless  production  workflows,  broadcast  equipment  and  systems  including,  but  not  limited  to,  cameras,  sound,  vision,  lighting,  graphics,  post  production,  media  management,  MCR  and  Playout.    

• Enthusiastic  and  self-­‐motivated,  able  to  prioritize  a  daily  workload,  and  to  meet  deadlines  both  individually,  and  as  part  of  a  team.  

• Able  to  react  tactfully  and  sympathetically  to  unusual  requests  from  production  staff  and  to  refer  upwards  for  guidance.  

• A  good  communicator  who  can  remain  calm  under  pressure.  

• Knowledge  of  Health  and  safety  legislation,  policy  and  standards  in  a  studio  environment  including  a  knowledge  of  the Health  and  Safety  at  Work  Act  1974  (HASAWA),  COSSH,  Working  at  Height,  Electricity  at  Work,  Noise,  Manual  Handling  of  Work  Equipment  and  the  importance  of  the  Risk  Assessment  process.  

• Able  to  diffuse  conflict  and  to  work  within  a  multifunctional  team  of  permanent,  contract  and  freelance  staff.    

• Previous  operational  experience  with  the  following  equipment  will  be  highly  regarded:    

o Spyder  and  Imageon  graphic  systems      o EVS  XT3  LSM  o ETC  Congo  lighting  desks  o Sony  Vision  Mixers  o Sony    2400  camera  systems  o Calrec  and  Yamaha  audio  desks  

 

Please  note  that  this  role  is  shift-­‐based  and  will  involve  unsociable  hours  and  weekend  work.
