GAS IGNITES AND DESTROYS BARN Around 2 p.m. on Saturday, the owner of a barn on County Road 360 near Sweetwater, tried to remove a fuel tank from a vehicle causing some of the gas to spill. The owner believes that static elec- tricity possi- bly ignited the fumes causing some of his clothing to catch fire along with the barn. The owner was able to extinguish the flames on his clothing and was not injured, however the barn caught fire and it along with the contents were destroyed. Units from Athens Rural, Niota Rural, and Englewood Rural Fire De- partments responded with Athens Rural Chief Chuck Burris being in charge of the scene.
