is not a good colour to write with).
Read the ‘We can see a… ‘sentence sheet. Colour the stars each
time you read a sentence. Read “We saw a…’ Write your own
sentence. Talk about present tense and past tense. Which one has
already happened? Because we used ‘saw.’

3. Reading –WHAT'S THE STORY?
This is a visual retelling of the classic Aesop fable: A lion, awakened by a mouse climbing over him, catches the tiny animal in his mighty paw. The mouse appeals for mercy and the lion relents. Soon after, the lion is captured in a poacher's net. The mouse hears his anguished roars and comes to his aid, gnawing the ropes until the great creature is freed.
Listen to Turn the sound down and just look at the pictures. Stop on each page and talk about what is happening.
• The Lion and the Mouse - Bing video
TALK TO YOUR KIDS ABOUT ...•Families can talk about kindness. Why does the lion release the mouse? Does he expect anything in return?•How do you think the lion feels when the mouse arrives to free him?•The mouse and the lion are very different animals. In this story, in what ways are they similar?•Before you supply the narrative for each spread, ask your child what she thinks is happening in the story. After you've read it together, encourage your child to take a turn "reading" it out loud to you.
1. Paint the background with your favourite colours. Don’t leave spaces.
2. Tear a piece of paper for the mouse body
3. Cut strips for the arems and legs and hands
4. In pink paper make circle ears and a long tail.

3. Reading
This book is a real treat!
Wordless books exercise our brains in two ways: We become better at understanding pictures…. we call that visual literacy and reading the pictures helps us to grow our imagination and creative thinking. It is a cool, fun experience.
WHAT'S THE STORY?
The owl babies Sarah, Percy and Bill are gorgeous white, fluffy, wide-eyed owlets. They live in the hollow of a tree with their Owl Mother. We are introduced to them in their cosy, safe home with their Mum. They are all together. One night they awake to find that their Owl Mother has gone!
Watch the next story
Owl Babies Picture Book Animation - Bing video
Owl Babies offers the perfect opportunity to explore feelings, anxieties and worries. It is a story charged with emotion and looking at the reactions of the Owl Babies is a good route to discussing a child’s own feelings.
Here are some ideas or questions that you might want to use to start a discussion in your family. You know your family and which questions they are ready to tackle now and which can be left for another day:
How do the Owl Babies feel when they realize their Owl Mother is gone?
How do you feel when the Owl Babies first realize their Owl Mother is gone?
How do you feel when you are dropped off at school/childminder’s/Grandma’s?
What do the Owl Babies do to help them feel better?
The Owl Babies talk to each other and this helps them feel better.
Do you think that talking about your worries can help you feel better?

Ask do you remember the value of the coins. Ask the student to put the coin in the right
order of value. If I could buy 1 lolly for 10 cents. How many would I get if I had 20c.
Discuss the meaning of the number on the coin. Talk about how much it is worth. Go

Go over the activity from yesterday. Group the coins from smallest to largest in size. Is
the biggest coin worth the most? Is the smallest coin worth the least?
Group the coins from least value to most. How is it different than before?

2. Adult to child Parent, we are orientating to the ten frame.
All students.
We are consolidating our understanding of 5 for Matthew and 10 for Vincent, Patrick, Finn and Autumn
Today we are going to talk about one number eg 5
Ask child to tell you which arrangement is easiest to tell that a group is 5. Ask how do you work it out? Do you count
every dot or object, toy etc Allow child to tell you how they got to the number
Show child a ten frame with five in it. Ask them to make six.
With the 10 frames ask child to make the number 7, 8, 9, 10
Show how they can start from 5 each time. Make sure the child understands that you do not have to start at 1. This
might seem a basic concept however it is very important counting on by 5 and when counting from any number.
3. Child shows adult
Roll & Build (Blank ten frames & 10 sided dice)
Child is given a blank ten frame and texta can used instead often counters. Child rolls a dice and
adds that many dots to the ten frame. Child must fill the ten frame with ten counters to win. Child
must roll the exact number to fill their ten frame.
