The internationally acclaimed Hebridean Celtic Festival has capped another successful year by winning a prestigious tourism award. The festival has won the Best Event or Festival category at the annual Highlands and Islands Tourism Awards. HebCelt, an annual four-day event which was held from 16-19 July in Stornoway, now automatically becomes a finalist at the Scottish Thistle Awards 2015, along with the front-runners from the North East, Central South East and Central South West areas of Scotland. HebCelt, which will mark its 20th anniversary next year, has a major economic and cultural impact on Lewis and the wider islands community. It is a passionate supporter of the Gaelic language and of young, emerging talent as well as traditional music. This year’s festival staged its biggest ever programme of 40 acts, headlined by Big Country, Levellers and Donnie Munro. A huge

influx of music fans from overseas made up half the estimated 14,000-strong audience which provided a major economic boost for the islands. Caroline Maclennan, the festival director, said: “Winning this major award is another major achievement in what has been a very rewarding year. Recognition of this nature is a fitting tribute for the all the hard work done by an army of volunteers who help ensure HebCelt continues to grow and thrive. It also emphasises just how crucial our funders, sponsors and

supporters are. They are enormously important to this vital event's success. Earlier this year HebCelt was selected as one of the top 10 UK summer festivals for the fourth year in succession by influential publication Songlines.

Eden Festival reaches the UK Festival Award final Eden Festival is happy to announce they have made it to finals of the UK Festival Awards.

Over 70,000 votes were cast from the general public and now they have to wait until 1 December to see if they can walk to glory winning either of the following categories; Best Family Festival and Best Grassroots Festival. Director Meredith Langley Vine ‘We are honoured to be nominated and want to extend a big thank you to all who voted, fingers crossed we will go all the way. Eden Festival is a community based event. The directors Meredith Langley Lane (27), Rebecca Day (31) and Lisa Cooper (27) are from Laurieston and the founder and production manager Adam Curtis (30) is from Haugh Urr. Furthermore, each year over 300 local people from Dumfries and Galloway are involved with the planning and execution of the festival. Director Meredith Langley Vine ‘We would rather teach people from the area that are interested in getting involved than hiring in events companies. This is the fabric of Eden Festival. The honor of making the finals is a nod to everyone in the community that’s ever been involved.”

Eden Festival has promised if they are successful on the night they will repay the community for their continued support by donating £250 to every music department in each of the 16 high schools in Dumfries and Galloway. The finals will be held in The Roundhouse in London on the 1 December and is regarded as the premiere 'Oscars' event for the music festival industry, attracting over 1,000 of the industries finest to enjoy a whole day of seminars, conferences and the much coveted awards ceremony. Previous speakers include Michael Eavis of Glastonbury and John Giddings of the Isle of Wight Festival. The Proclaimers have been announced as the headliners for Thursday 6 August 2015 at Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival the first time the festival has featured a main stage headliner on its enhanced opening night. Scotland’s iconic Reid brothers, Charlie and Craig, will be making a return to the festival exactly ten years after they last headlined it.

Since 2005, the year of their last appearance at Bella, The Proclaimers have gone from strength to strength, culminating in the hit stage musical Sunshine On Leith, which was turned into a movie, released in 2013. The film spent a month

in the UK top ten, peaking at number 2, it was the 5th highest grossing UK independent movie of 2013 and has been nominated for five awards at the Scottish BAFTA’s on 16th November.

The Proclaimers ended their last 2 year World tour in October 2013 in spectacular fashion (following Rod Stewart's opening run) as they became the first Scottish based band to pay the new Hydro Arena in Glasgow.

Since then Craig and Charlie Reid have focused exclusively on writing a new album and with that creative process now finally completed, they start recording with their band and producer Dave Eringa (Manic Street Preachers, Idlewild, Wilco Johnson & Roger Daltrey, The Who) later this month. Their 10th studio album will then be released by Cooking Vinyl in Spring 2015.

Next summer will see The Proclaimers embark upon another tour around the World and a second appearance at Belladrum is their first confirmed performance for 2015 . Craig and Charlie commented "We are absolutely delighted to heading back to Belladrum after 10 years since we first played there in 2005. It has been fantastic to see the festival grow from strength to strength and we look forward immensely to returning and playing the Garden Stage next August."

“I can’t think of a more appropriate act to launch our first year of offering an extra main stage headliner at Bella,” said festival promoter Joe Gibbs. “The Proclaimers gave the event the support it needed from a major Scottish act in its difficult second year. Who better, now, to launch our new third night on the main stage?”

In order to see The Proclaimers, patrons of the festival will need to buy a three day ticket to the event as the usual weekend ticket does not give access to the main stage on the Thursday night.

Tickets including child (12 & under), campervan/caravan and electrical hook-up e-tickets can be purchased by going to Skiddle (link above). Early bird tickets to the twelfth staging of Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival sold out in under seven hours.

Further acts for the festival will be announced around March or April 2015 which is about the time the line-up usually begins to materialise.

Bella sold out in record time in 2014, and has sold out each of the last six years, often months before the event so fans are urged to buy early to avoid disappointment. E-tickets are more customer-friendly and less easy to scam, but printed tickets are also on sale via the usual retail outlets.

In 2014 the legendary Tom Jones headlined the Friday of the festival while the Saturday night featured the popular rock band Razorlight at the top of the bill. Frightened Rabbit returned to the event as very special guests. Also featured were: Billy Bragg; Band of Skulls; The Temperance Movement; I Am Kloot; Catfish & The Bottlemen; and Grandmaster Flash

Belladrum 2015 takes place in the beautiful Highland surroundings of Belladrum Estate, near Beauly in Inverness-shire. The independent festival has built a reputation for its eclectic line-ups, its offbeat non-musical entertainments and its all-ages approach. The festival won a VisitScotland Thistle Award in 2009 and is a past winner of the Grassroots Festival Award at the UK Festival Awards, the festival industry’s ‘Oscars’.

Tickets for the 11th edition of Loopallu will go on sale online this Friday 28 November at 9am. As a thank you to previous attendees, there will be a presale available for those signed up on the mailing list at www.loopallu.co.uk from Thursday 27th at 9am for 24 hours at last years price. Over the past ten years, despite its remote location, size and time of year, Loopallu has had the extreme pleasure of bringing the likes of Paolo Nutini, Mumford & Sons, Franz Ferdinand, Jake Bugg, The Undertones, Alabama 3, The Buzzcocks, Newton Faulkner and Twin Atlantic to the Highlands. Loopallu 2015 will be no different, with a household names rubbing shoulders with the stars of the future. Indeed excitement was so great for the 2014 edition, tickets sold out before a single name was announced. Loopallu takes place in the tiny remote North West coast fishing village of Ullapool on Friday 25 and Saturday 26 September 2015 and doubles the population of the village for the weekend. As well as the usual eclectic line up of acts appearing at the festival big top and the fringe events after hours in the villages pubs, the festival will be welcoming the return of the Literally Literary tent in association with Ullapool Book Festival. All this, as well as the usual warm Ullapool welcome. ‘2014 was a vintage year. Selling out quicker than ever without a single act being announced was extremely humbling for all involved in Loopallu and something we don’t take for granted. Indeed, the

pressure to exceed the experience in 2015 is immense, but a challenge we’re whole heartedly embracing.’ Robert Hicks, Festival Founder & Director Tickets will be available online at 9am Friday 28 November from link above. Then in person from North West Outdoors (Ullapool) and the Ironworks (Inverness) from Friday 5 December "Gaining the reputation as the place to finish off the summer." - Grazia Magazine "They’re selling the family silver – even granny is at risk of being put up for auction as fans try and outbid each other for tickets for Loopallu." - The Press and Journal "The only music event anywhere in the world to feature both Franz Ferdinand and the Ullapool Pipe Band." - The Guardian
