Trusted Health Information from the National Institutes of Health 4xx/xx/xxxx

“One of the fundamental charges to NIH is to facilitate the translation of research findings into practice, both in terms of the care provided by health professionals and behavioral and lifestyle changes by the public. The Committee commends the excellent work NLM does in this regard.

The Committee endorses efforts to launch a new magazine aimed at physician offices and their patients, communicating the latest NIH research findings with authoritative content presented in a user-friendly format.”

Results

Trusted Health Information from the National Institutes of Health 22xx/xx/xxxx

• Response to the unique combination of NIH MedlinePlus special issue, The Modern Man’s Guide to Living Well with Diabetes, and related ADA components reinforces the value of these resources to help physicians engage their patients.

• Based on the results of this program ADA used NIH MedlinePlus in 2011 to launch their recently diagnosed program, Living with Type 2 Diabetes, and provide HCPs with point-of-diagnosis resource, Where Do I Begin?

• Rapid rate of requests for additional copies indicated content relevance and need for educational materials in the clinical environment.

• The widespread geographic dispersion of physician requests signified the program was effective in reaching physicians and their patients, nationwide.
