WICKENBURG CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

The Wickenburg Chamber of Commerce is proud to sponsor its Annual golf tournament on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at the Wickenburg Country Club, 1420 Country Club Drive.

The 15th ANNUAL WICKENBURG CHAMBER GOLF CLASSIC is a four person scramble with shot-gun start at 12 noon. Registration fee is $65 per player, $260 foursome, and includes green fees, cart, prizes and banquet at Ringo’s.

We are pleased to announce that JONES FORD,

Golfers Wanted!!!

The Wickenburg Art Club (WAC) is coordinating a community photography project which will culminate in a juried exhibition entitled "A Day in the Life of Wickenburg." As part of WAC's 50th anniversary year, November 21 - Henry Wickenburg's birthday, will be the date set aside to photograph all aspects of Wickenburg and the surrounding areas. The idea is to get everyone involved in taking photos of our community and submitting them for possible submission in the exhibit.

Anyone can submit photos, amateur or professional. You do not have to have experience in photography or any special camera. In fact, many cell phone camer-as are excellent for capturing the immediacy of what is happening in the moment. Participants should use their creativity to express what they think is special about our community, what speaks to them, and represents the town. All forms of images are sought for submission. The only catch is that the photograph must be taken between 12:01 a.m. and midnight, Friday, November 21st.

The Photography Group of WAC would like to help anyone with the desire to learn more about how to improve your photographs. There will be several ways to learn more prior to the event on Nov. 21. The Photography Group meets the first Monday of each month from October - April. Join this group on either Oct. 6 or Nov. 3rd at 6:30 p.m. for more information on photography and ask any ques-tions you may have. Bring your whatever camera you use and they can help you get the most from it.

Submission forms will be available in September at the Wickenburg Art Center, located at 188 S. Tegner, or the Chamber of Commerce, Town Hall, and Kwikprint. You may submit up to three photographs.

The exhibition of photographs will take place in January at the gallery of the Wickenburg Art Center where the Wickenburg Art Club has been conducting renovations over the last year in celebration of their jubilee year. In addition, the photographs will be on display on a rotating basis at Town of Wickenburg loca-tions and local businesses.

Look for more information as it becomes available at www.wickenburgartclub.org and in the Wickenburg Sun.

Spread the word to anyone you think might be interested. A large number of participants will make this a truly worthy day for the town's founder! Take your best shot!

Avoid driving into or through a dust storm. If you encounter a dust storm, check traffic immediately around your vehicle (front, back and to the side) and begin slowing down.

Do not wait until poor visibility makes it difficult to safely pull off the roadway — do it as soon as possible. Completely exit the highway if you can.

Do not stop in a travel lane or in the emer-gency lane; look for a safe place to pull com-pletely off the paved portion of the roadway.

Stop the vehicle in a position ensuring it is

a safe distance from the main roadway and away from where other vehicles may travel. Turn off all vehicle lights, including your emergency flashers. Set your emergency brake and take your foot off the brake. Stay in the vehicle with your seatbelts buckled and wait for the storm to pass.

Drivers of high-profile vehicles should be especially aware of changing weather condi-tions and travel at reduced speeds. A driver’s alertness and safe driving ability are always the top factors in preventing crashes.
