In 1844, Joseph Celestin Baume went to England to set up business relations whom opened doors to introduce watches signed “Waterloo”, “Diviko” and “Sirdar” to new markets. In 1893, the company won the timing competition at the Kew-Teddington observatory with a score of 91.9 out of 100. In 1912, William Baume met with Paul Mercier and in 1918 formed the establishment of “Baume & Mercier” in Geneva. After the war Constantin de Gorski joins the company and focus on conventional men’s watches, sports-chronographs and ladies jewelry watches. In 1965, Piaget took over the company. From the 1970’s the company invest on quartz movement. In 1993, the Cartier Group became sole owners of Piaget and Baume & Mercier.
