What can they do for you? Give you an online presence. More chances to be found by search engines More opportunities to express yourself and show more

than you can on your professional website. [blog] Interact with other professionals [linkedin] Free publicity. [Fan pages on facebook etc.] Link all your websites together. One message gets

shown on for example Facebook, Linkedin and Twitter [hootsuite]

Pitfalls Social media are NOT private. Set BOUNDARIES. Clients can read your blogs On facebook / Linkedin think carefully whom you add as

friends, Make sure you have privacy settings in place on sites if

you don’t want clients to read you comments. Everybody that wants to can follow Twitter, you cannot

refuse people to befriend you. Be careful with the photos you place online. On

Facebook for example they become property of Facebook.

What you put on the internet stays there forever and cannot be deleted.
