9.0 Geology:
The Hong Kong Geological Survey,1:20,000 scale geological map,Series No. HGM20,Sheet 7 - Shatin, indicates that the feature is underlain by colluvium adjoining to coarse-grained granite. No adverse geologicalfeatures ,which may affect the stability ofthis feature, were indicated on the above geological survey map. Apa吋-print of the geological map is shown in Figure 4
Based on the results of recent GI,field observations and A門, the geology of the feature is mainly composedof the following materials:
(i) COLULD with thickness varying from 0.8 m to 1.0 m;(ii) The COLULD layer is underlain by completely to highly decomposed granite(C/HDG) materials;(iii) Underneath C!HDG ,moderately to slightly decomposed granite (M/SDG) was encountered.
The inferred geological models at Sections 1-1 and 2-2 are presented in Figures 5 to 6 respectively. Thematerials encountered in the recent GI fieldworks are summarised as follows:
COLULD (Colluvium! Landslide Debris)Firm, brown, sand clayey silt with some angular to subangular gravel occasional cobble and boulder sizedrock fragments.
C!HDGVery· weak to weak, yellowish brown spa投ed black and white, completely to highly decomposed coarsegrained granite.
10.0 Groundwater Conditions:
Design groundwater level was determined based on measurements of water levels of standpipe taken afterinstallation from 2 January 2013 and 9 January 2013 and by means of the wetting approach. Thegroundwater monitoring records taken during the foresaid period indicated that no groundwater levels wererecorded at drillhole C574-DH1 ,trial pits C574-TP1 ,C574-TP2 ,C574-TP4 and C574-TP6.

table for a 10-year return period rainfall. In addition ,a O.5m司 high perched water table above the base of theCOLURemaining Landslide Debris is also assumed to cater for possible formation of transient groundwatertable during heavy rainfall. The details of the estimation of design groundwater table by wetting approach areincluded in Appendix E. The design groundwater table at Sections 1-1 and 2-2 are shown in Figures 5 to 6respectively.

The latest Engineer Inspection (凹陷port for maintenance for the feature was prepared by C M Wong &Associates Ltd in May 2011. The Routine Maintenance Inspection (RMI) to the feature was carried in May2012. Based on the EI and RMI records, neither signs of distress nor signs of seepage were observed at thefeature in the past inspection. Routine Maintenance Works (RMW) including removalof debris and witheredvegetation on slope surface and installation of slope registration sign plate were recommended in last RMI(2012).
GEO Incident No. 2008/06/0160 recorded a landslide occurred on the feature on 7 June 2008. The failurescale was about 75 m3 and the possible contributing cause of the failure was infiltration. Immediate advices, such as fencing off area in danger;evacuating buildings ,squatter structures and village houses; divertingsurface runoff from reaching failure area; covering failure scar with tarpaulin and checking land status andsquatter structure status were recommended. All the immediate advices had been implemented. Theapproximate location of the landslip is shown in Figure 2. A copy of the GEO incident repo吋 is provided inAppendix H.
According to the EI repo此, there are no recorded utilities located on or in the vicinity ofthe feature.
According to GEO Circular 悔,旬, the feature is eligible for selection for action under the preventivemaintenance programme based on the following:
(i) According to the Slope Information System of the GEO,this feature is classified as C1;(ii) No available information indicates that this feature has been assessed or upgraded to current
standards;(iii) The feature may a何ect existing cottages at its toe, where parts or extensions of the a仟'ected
structures are located on the licensed land at the toe of the feature. (i.e. GLL T12525).
5.0 Aerial Photograph Interpretation:
An aerial photograph interpretation (API) was carried out to establish the development history and past hydro-geological ∞nditions of the feature. A copy of the API report is included in Appendix C.
The API indicates that the feature was formed in 2008 probably after the landslide occurred at the feature inJune 2008. Aerial photographs taken before 2008 show that the feature location was covered by densevegetation and boundary of the subject feature could not be identified. The aerial photograph taken in 2010has clearly shown that the whole extent of the su句ect feature was covered by hard surface. No th悟到。fboulder fall is evident from the photographs. No prevailing drainage line is identified in the vicinity of the
