MediterraneanMediterranean BlockDraw a line from corner to corner on the wrong side of the cream shade 4” squares. Place the cream shade 4” squares on top of the assorted print 4” squares with right sides together. Sew ¼” on each side of the drawn line. Cut on the lines to make 320 Half Square Triangles. Press. Square up the Half Square Triangles to 3½”.

Refer to the quilt photo for fabric placement as each block is a different arrangement of Half Square Triangles. Sew 16 Half Square Triangles in 4 rows of 4 Half Square Triangles to create the Mediterranean Block. Repeat to make 20 Mediterranean Blocks.

Posts and SashingSew a blue tile 1½” square to a blue petal 1½ x 12½” rectangle. Repeat to make a row with 5 square posts and 4 sashing rectangles. Make 6 rows labeled A.

Sashing and BlocksRefer to quilt photo block placement. Sew a blue petal 1½ x 12½” rectangle to a Mediterranean Block. Repeat to make a row with 5 sashing rectangles and 4 blocks. Make 5 rows labeled B.

Quilt Center AssemblySee quilt photo for row placement. Lay out rows A and B. Sew rows together to complete the center of the quilt.

Borders Seam allowances vary so measure through the center of the quilt before cutting border pieces. Sew border strips together end to end if necessary to get the length needed. Sew side borders first.

Border 1Side borders should be 66½”. Top and bottom borders should be 65½”.

Finish quilt by layering the quilt top, batting, and back. Bind with your favorite Riley Blake fabric from the Serenata Collection. Have fun with your colors and enjoy the journey of making your quilt.
