SPRING HAS FINALLY SPRUNG!

The faithful love of the LORD never ends! His mercies never cease. 23 Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning. 24 I say to myself, “The LORD is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in him!” – Lamentations 3:22-24 (NLT)

I don’t know about you, but a little bit of sunshine … and a little bit of warmer weather … goes a long way in making my days shine that much brighter! And I think that goes for most of us, doesn’t it? But, I’ve also learned to appreciate the cloudy, rainy, and even snowy days that I’ve been blessed with. No matter what the weather, one thing I have learned to appreciate—especially in the past few months—is this: Every day can be a new beginning—a time to renew our relationship with God and our relationships with each other, a time to be thankful for all that God has blessed us with. God’s mercies in our lives—undeserved favor—are absolutely astounding! And, as the writer of Lamentations reminds us above: “…his mercies begin afresh each morning.”

We’ve been talking about God’s love ever since Easter morning. And, as this scripture also affirms, we have heard that God’s love never ends! His mercies never cease….

On those days that we just don’t feel like bothering with God…

On those days that we just feel too lazy to have a quiet time, giving that as a gift to the God who loves us…

Page 3: May 2013 Newsletter

On those days when we’re just not quite as patient as we should be with those God has entrusted to our care…

On those days when we have continued to do something (or not do something) that we know God wouldn’t exactly be pleased with…

Just listen to what Lamentations tells us again: “Great is his faithfulness….” And God’s faithfulness—his love—to us is not dependent on our perfection (or even close, some days)! Isn’t that wonderful? Because of God’s love, each and every day can be a new beginning for us. That’s especially comforting, if we know we need it! So, what part of your life needs a new beginning? What part of your daily routine needs redeeming? What relationship needs a new start? That’s the business God’s in. That’s how enormous God’s love is. And it’s ours for the asking, as we offer our lives—and all of our issues—to him…

May you come to know the faithfulness of God’s LOVE in the days ahead … and may that truth absolutely change your life! GOD LOVES YOU anew—each and every day…

With excitement for our future together,

Pastor Rom

Rummage Sale Thanks Many, many thanks to anyone and everyone who helped with the recent UMW Rummage/Bake Sale. We had many wonderful people who helped load and unload and deliver items to the church, others who arranged and priced the items, those that worked hours at the sale and then helped to clean-up on Saturday at the close of the day. Please know that your help was greatly appreciated and because of your efforts our local unit of the UMW will be able to continue to do our part to support local, state, and international missions. God’s Blessings to you all.

A STEWARDSHIP MESSAGE FOR YOUR CHURCH

#289 Giving means thinking positively. “Make the most of every

chance you get. These are desperate times.” (Ephesians 5:16 The Message)

April showers bring May flowers! We all hope that all the rain and

snow showers we’ve received this spring will turn into a wonderful

gift of flowers. The same can be said for our financial gifts. We

like to see the fruits of our labors, so to speak!

As Bob and Marilyn finished their taxes this year, they realized that

an additional gift to their church and other charities could turn their

personal blessings into gifts for many others – and save them taxes,

especially capital gains taxes if they gave appreciated stock.

They decided on an amount to give this year, but couldn’t decide

exactly how to distribute it. Marilyn said, “We have to decide. If

we don’t start giving this amount right now, you know we’ll find other

frivolous things to do with the money. If we really feel called to give

it away, we need to use it to make gifts.” Then they learned they

could establish a DONOR ADVISED FUND through the Wisconsin

United Methodist Foundation.

A Donor Advised Fund allows you to claim a tax advantage in the year

you make the gift and your Donor Advised Fund account is

established at the Foundation. Donor Advised Funds are distributed

over an unlimited period of time on a schedule that accomplishes

your charitable giving goals. This allows you to “take your time” in

distributing your gift.

For more information on how you might meet your charitable giving

goals through a Donor Advised Fund, contact us at:

TORNADO WARNING SHELTER AT DUMC

Someone will open the North and East doors to allow residents to get to the basement or upstairs women’s bathroom for shelter. This is intended primarily for the residents of the mobile home community of Dodgeville, but is open to anyone. Also, we are in need of a few volunteers to be “on call” to open the doors and serve as hosts (usher people downstairs to the appropriate area). Coloring books and chairs are available for parents to keep kids entertained. If you can help by being on a call list, and live near Dodgeville, please call Juanita at 574-4591.

Mission Trip Stock Sale

The mission trip youth and adults are once again selling shares of stock for their trip to West Memphis, Tennessee. Stock shares cost $10/ea and with your shares you will receive a stock certificate, a hand-written postcard from the mission site, and an invitation to the Shareholder's meeting in September. All donations/stock purchases offset the cost of the trip. These trips have historically impacted the lives of our youth and the folks we help in big ways as only God could work. If you haven't yet sponsored one of our missionaries, we strongly encourage you to do so and to share this opportunity with family, friends, and neighbors. Please contact our Youth Ministries Coordinator, Craig Brown, at (608) 234-0288 to learn how you can help.
