1. Cut pattern pieces. Cut out pattern pieces, transfer to felt, and cut.

You can use a ball-point pen and cut on the inside of your markings, or hold the pattern

pieces against the felt and cut them both at the same time.

Cut a rectangle of mulberry measuring 6 ¼” x 5 ½”.

Cut a rectangle of baby blue measuring 2 ¼” x 4 ¼”

2. Stitch the doll’s face With the light blue thread (519), stitch the inner circle of the hood to the face with a small

straight stitch.

With the gray thread (535), stitch the hair in two sections with a satin stitch- A curved left

piece and a smaller curved right piece. Then make two “braids” around the curved edges with a

chain stitch.

With the navy thread (803), make two fly stitches for the eyes.

With the magenta thread (915), make three straight stitches for the mouth with the ends

angling upwards. Make a tiny fly stitch above the center straight stitch for the upper lip, and a

larger fly stitch under the center straight stitch for the lower lip.

3. Stitch the doll’s apron With the gray thread (535), attach the apron piece to the center of the body piece with a long

straight stitch.

With the navy thread (803), make three lazy daisies of varying sizes near the bottom of the

apron.

With the magenta thread (915), make one French knot in the center of each flower.

With the green thread (368), make small straight stitches to look like leaves between the flower

petals at opposing angles.

4. Finish stitching the doll Place the hood against the body so that the bottom of the face meets the top of the body and pin

in place. With the light blue thread (519), use tiny chain stitches to make the bow, securing the

hood to the body. Make a French knot in the center of the bow.

Place the doll against the baby blue rectangle piece, centering it on all sides and pin in place.

With the light blue (519), secure the hood to the baby blue background with a medium straight

stitch.

With the light purple thread (3835), secure the body to the baby blue background with a

medium straight stitch.

5. Stitch background flowers Arrange the flower and leaves on the background however you would like. Try layering small

flowers on top of large flowers in different colors. Pin the leaves in place and set the flowers

aside. With the light blue thread (519), secure the leaves to the background with straight

stitches in opposing angles down the length of each leaf.

Pin the flowers in place. Secure them to the background using a variety of stitches and

contrasting thread. For the centers, use French knots or seed beads.

With the light green thread (368) make tiny swirling vines with chain stitches coming from the

flowers in all directions. Using the purple thread (3835) sew one, two, or three seed beads to the

ends of the vines.

6. Assemble the cozy With the light blue thread (519) make a long straight stitch down each of the short sides of the

mulberry rectangle piece, about 1/8 inch from the edge.

Pin the light blue piece with the doll to the center of the mulberry piece. With the purple

thread (3835) secure the light blue piece to the mulberry piece with a medium straight stitch.

Fold the two short edge pieces together so that they meet in the center with the wrong side facing

out. Pin at the short edges. With a short, tight stitch setting, sew each short edge with a ¼” seam

allowance. Make a few extra passes back and forth over the center opening for strength.

Carefully turn the cozy right sides out, add a package of travel tissues, and you’re finished!
