Marsh & McLennan Agency Expands Presence in Charlotte In January 2019, Marsh & McLennan Agency (MMA) expanded its presence in the Charlotte market with the merger of three legacy agencies: Rutherfoord Insurance, The Bond Network, and Senn Dunn Insurance. Established in 1999 with just three employees, today the Marsh & McLennan Agency Charlotte office has over 50 employees and established a culture that has contributed to the office’s success over the past 20 years. MMA Charlotte is one of MMA Mid-Atlantic’s largest and fastest growing regional offices with robust business insurance, employee health and benefits, private client services, and surety bonding offerings. In 2014 MMA Charlotte acquired The Bond Network, a boutique surety bonding firm with strong community ties. They also acquired Senn Dunn, which vastly expanded the MMA footprint in the Charlotte region. Ray Garruto, Charlotte Division Manager describes the history of MMA in Charlotte as years of “phenomenal growth and it’s continuing at an accelerated rate, giving [us] the opportunity to go places and write accounts that we have never had before.” In January, MMA Charlotte officially combined its local offices into one headquarters situated on Carnegie Boulevard in the city of Charlotte. Through this merger of offices, they have established a culture of collaboration and camaraderie unparalleled elsewhere. “This culture is something neat, “describes David Romero, employee health and benefits consultant in Charlotte. “We’ve had an influx of younger people starting to come in the office so it’s added a nice vibrancy. We’re spending time investing in the community so people know, not just MMA from a business perspective, but we’re also involved in the community.” Community service and a passion for giving back to the region through strong relationships are two areas in which MMA Charlotte truly excels. Larry Bowen, Charlotte Operations Manager describes “everyone has the same goal in mind, that is to make sure we are really doing the best thing for our clients [and community].” MMA Charlotte has volunteered for organizations such as the Charlotte Rescue Mission, Community Matters, Thompson Child & Family Focus, Safe Alliance, and Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. In 2015, MMA Charlotte established a dedicated community service committee to seek out new opportunities for the office to work with local non-profit organizations. MMA Charlotte has grown tremendously over the past several years enjoying 32% business insurance growth in 2018. As a result, they have been able to expand leadership opportunities for colleagues, recently promoting Brad Gibson to Senior Vice President and Surety Manager as well as other colleagues in the newly combined office. “When I think of MMA, I think about prosperity and I think about growth.” says Archita Golwala, Associate Technical Account Manager. “MMA is a large corporation and there are so many different
