Impartial method of matching applicant’s preferences for positions with residency program’s preferences for applicants

Four matching programs: National Residency Matching Program (NRMP) – the main Residency

Match San Francisco Match – Ophthalmology positions Urology Match – operated by the American Urological Association Military Match – Army, Air Force and Navy positions.

Categorical-C: programs that begin in the PGY-1 year and provide the full training required for specialty board certification.

Advanced-A: programs that begin in the PGY-2 after a year of prerequisite training.

Preliminary-P: or one-year programs that begin in the PGY-1 year and provide prerequisite training for advanced programs.
