Since the beginning of recorded�history, music has played a signif-�icant role in the healing of our�world. Music and healing were�communal activities that were nat-�ural to everyone.�

In ancient Greece, Apollo was�both the god of music and medi-�cine. Ancient Greeks said, "Music�is an art imbued with power to�penetrate into the very depths of�the soul." These beliefs were�shared through their Doctrine of�Ethos. In the mystery schools of�Egypt and Greece, healing and�sound were considered a highly�developed sacred science.�

Pythagoras, one of the wise teach-�ers in ancient Greece, knew how�to work with sound. He taught his�students how certain musical�chords and melodies produce defi-�nite responses within the human�organism. He demonstrated that�the right sequence of sounds,�played musically on an instru-�ment, could actually change be-�havior patterns and accelerate the�healing process.�

Q�Sound in any form is energy. It is a tool that can be�used to alter electro magnetic fields and impulses of�the individual and environment. What that really�means is that when an imbalance happens in the�body sound can be used to restore homeostasis�alleviate pain and produce healing. It can also be�used as a tool to change consciousness by allowing�concentration, relaxation, learning creativity and�increasing awareness of psycho spiritual states by�interacting and altering brain wave patterns.�

For example the Heart Chakra resonates with the�tone of F. If you listen to Bach’s Brandenburg�Concertos in F major, you will feel the energy�strongly in your heart chakra.�

Color is a property of light. When light is broken�down into different wave lengths or frequencies it is�broken into a vibrational frequency. Each�frequency, thus each color has its own characteristics�and ability to affect your energy.�

It is my honor to speak to you in two capaci-�ties today. First as a teacher and leader of the�RB Stewart Middle School. I am very proud�to be teaching these very talented children. �Secondly, I come to as a partner in a The�Center of Divine Light.�

I pose to all of you a challenge. As leaders in�the community, I would like to challenge�each of you to raise your personal expecta-�tions, and the expectations of people you en-�counter each day. If you hold true to high�expectations, people will meet those expecta-�tions. The children I teach meet and in most�cases EXCEED my expectations.�

Often times in our society we tend to hold�people back, whether it be to level the play-�ing fields, to be fair to everyone, to be�“standardized” as in testing, or in many cas-�es, simply to tear down another who is suc-�ceeding, so we don't feel so bad about our�own failures. I challenge you to go beyond�your own expectations, and the expectations�of others. I challenge you to make a differ-�ence in the community as leaders, by step-�ping out of your comfort zone and�confronting with conviction that which is�hindering growth and change for the better.�It is only through this self examination and�contemplation of what values we believe in,�that we can change ourselves, and then be�successful ourselves. Successful in raising�our own expectations, not lowering that of�others to to meet our own, and therefore suc-�cessful in our businesses, our community,�and in changing people's lives. Remember,�doing what is “popular” is not always “right”�and doing what is “right” is not always�“popular”.�
