Perhaps it is the brittle temperatures that have frozen my brain. In any event, I dragged myself to the computer to pen a few thoughts. Our February meeting resulted in few casualties but the usual ruffled feathers. A spirited discussion of the results of our annual survey was led by our intrepid VP Joyce Pavelko. Florida woman stops alligator attack with a small Beretta pistol
This is a story of self-control and marksmanship by a brave, cool-headed woman with a small pistol against a fierce predator. What is the smallest caliber that you would trust to protect yourself? A Beretta Jetfire testimonial.... Here is her story in her own words:
"While out walking along the edge of a pond just outside of The Villages with my soon to be ex-husband discussing property settlement and other divorce issues, we were surprised by a huge 12-ft. alligator which suddenly emerged from the murky water and began charging us with its large jaws wide open. She must have been protecting her nest because she was extremely aggressive. If I had not had my little Beretta Jetfire .25 caliber pistol with me, I would not be here today! Just one shot to Joe, my estranged husband's knee cap was all it took..
The 'gator got him easily and I was able to escape by just walking away at a brisk pace. It's one of the best pistols in my collection! Plus the amount I saved in lawyer’s fees was really incredible.
Happy Valentine's Day Steve, Joe and myself went to the Oil, Tire, and Battery seminar last Saturday at Des Plaines Honda. It was informative, as usual. When it was over they had some giveaways. At the end they passed out tickets for a drawing for a couple of items. I was at the end of our row of seats so Steve gave me the last ticket. (He could have given me the other ticket...his choice.) I won one (1) Dunlop tire. I was given a registration card to fill out and mail to Dunlop. I can
order any tire I want and it will be delivered to my front door. Since Lynn uses Dunlops I will order a back tire for her bike and use it the next time she needs tires. So I thought "is this great or what!" (since it was Valentine's day). When I got home I walked into the house and yelled "HAPPY VALENTINES DAY. I JUST BOUGHT YOU A NEW BACK TIRE FOR YOUR BIKE! ISN'T THIS GREAT!!! She didn't buy it. So I did the next best thing...I blamed it on Steve since he gave me the winning ticket. That did not work either. The next day (Sunday) at breakfast LYNN THANKED STEVE FOR THE "GREAT" VALENTINES DAY PRESENT HE GAVE HER. Of COURSE HE SAID "YOU'RE WELCOME" AND TOOK ALL THE CREDIT. Choose your friends wisely.
