What a weekend!!! Congratulations to the team for winning two of three from the University of Washington. It was exciting to welcome back members of the 1959, 1988 and 1991 teams who all participated in the College World Series in Omaha and to honor the 2008 National Champions with the new signs in Beiden Field. The past two weeks have been a blur. February brings the beginning of the baseball season for the team and the beginning of the many events that are planned by the Dugout Club for the team and the community. This is a time to thank the many individuals who have worked tirelessly for the past several months. Ron Primavera, our Vice President/ Treasurer has kept us all within our budgets and continues to help the club move forward in our commitment to the team and the University. The Golf Tournament was suspended….. until 2010, but Stan Busch, Byron Schnetz, and Wes Debusk put together a terrific tournament and created a way to give out prizes and have all players get vouchers to play the Brighton Crest course at a future date. Sharlene Gomes, the Double Play dinner chair, provided a wonderful opportunity to honor the 2008 National Champions and prepare for the exciting 2009 season. The room was decorated beautifully by Ginger Hazel and her committee. This was one of the best auctions we have ever had and we have Kristi Lozano and Joyce Buss to thank for putting together such a wonderful collection of items. Not to be left out are all the individuals and companies who contributed and bid on items for the auction. The board… Patty Parks, Bob Doig, Mark Coombs, Lori DeLuca, Mike Gavrilis, Marsha Johnson, Kay McBee, Kevin Polglase, Ron Schiller, James Watt, our newest member Scott Uyesaka, and the Editor of this exceptional newsletter, Perry Mamigonian, have all contributed to our success. The entire University staff must be commended for continuing to support the effort of Sport Clubs. Thanks especially to Pat Ogle, our Club liaison, and Jason Pirtle with facilities that helps us on game days. I would like to have you do me a favor, next time you come to Beiden Field. Be sure to check out the glass enclosed cases of memorabilia that line the concourse. Pictures of the 2009 Team Members are there along with our tribute to the National Champions and the many teams and individuals who have played at Fresno State. Duane Rash and his committee keep up these cases and help us remember the legacy of “Bulldog Baseball”. "You've got to be very careful if you don't know where you are going because you might not get there.” This Yogi Berra quote has been one of my favorites through the years and it describes the mission of the Dugout Club. We are committed to helping Coach Batesole, his assistants and the entire team succeed on and off the field. Your commitment through membership and attending the games is essential. We cannot lose sight of the goal to graduate student athletes as we compete for a National Championship. Be sure to check out the schedule of events, I look forward to seeing you at a future game. A competitive live auctionhad enthusiastic bidding for an Eye QVision Center laser treatment, a luxurioussuite at the Las Vegas Hilton, and a veryspecial one-of–a-kind oil painting of theOmaha Dog Pile done by Kelsey Abejon, fiancée of Stephen Susdorf which brought inthe highest price of the evening.

The long awaited ceremony of presentingeach player and coach of the 2008 team withhis National Championship ring was greetedwith prolonged applause. The ring isspecially made with each player andcoach’s’ name embossed on one side, theNational Championship and year on theother.
