News from Arcata Bottom The months have been flying by! At our January meeting we sent our baskets overseas and they all reached their destination. Once again, we visited the Mad River Adult Day Health Care which is when we take small animals and walk around the room so the patients that don’t get to see these kind of animals have an opportunity too. It’s really great to interact with the elderly people and to know that we can brighten someone's day with our animals. At our February Club meeting we had a Valentine's Social which is where every family brought a plate of homemade cookies. We divided all the cookies up and took them out to businesses that support help to support Arcata Bottom 4-H. We have scheduled a date to make sandwiches for Betty Chinn. We gather ingredients which are bread, peanut butter and jelly. We always feel this is a great way to give back to someone who does so much for our community. Soon the year is going to be over, talk to you next time. Happy spring! Grace Miller

News from Freshwater 4-H In January our club continued its efforts to help the homeless during winter. Seren chaired a Coats for the Cold cash donation drive. We contributed $70.25 for coats to be purchased for those in need by the organization. Everyone at our February meeting made Valentine’s day cards for the elderly. Carli and Chance organized a trip to Timber Ridge to deliver our homemade cards, where every resident received a card. Also in February, Matthew and Jenna collected newspaper and shredding to deliver to the Sequoia Humane Society. We will be out in the community participating in the Foggy Bottoms Milk run thanks to Seren and Anders. The invitation is open to any of our members who wish to participate in the 2 mile run. We have an upcoming Livestock Seminar on March 14th at 6:00 in the Freshwater Elementary School cafeteria. All of the clubs as well as community members are welcome to join. This meeting will be approximately one hour. Jenna Sadler Reporter

News from Hydesville 4-H Hi all from Hydesville. The last months we have been busy with each project group presenting a small presentation about what they have learned or are currently learning. Last month our goat group brought in goat yogurt and Kiefer for everyone to try. Some of the flavors were quite good. We also heard from the cake decorating group and all the different types of equipment used to decorate cakes. In January we heard from the poultry group and learned all the parts of a little Serama rooster. The sewing group also presented about the different tools needed for sewing. In March we will be hearing from the rabbit and .22 rifle shooting projects. March 20th is the annual spaghetti feed which is held at the Fortuna vets hall. Hydesville, Bridgeville and Fortuna 4H all participate in serving dinner. That pretty much covers our news for now. Wyatt Wilson, reporter News from Miranda 4-H In the January meeting of the Miranda 4-H, we had a guest speaker who was a Brazilian transfer student. We asked what it was like going to school in a different country. That meeting our President was absent so our V.P. bravely took over. The Health and Recreation Officers led us in a couple of fun games. The cooking group made us a rabbit stew made from rabbits that the rabbit class raised. This February meeting, the club had two guest speakers who were employees of a local hospital. Then the club made Valentine's cards for residents of the skilled nursing facility at the hospital. We also accepted a new member. Then the Health and Recreation Officers led us in a chaotic and fun game of bobsled. The cooking class made Thai food, spring rolls and stir fry. Kelsey and Mimi attended and showed at the Humboldt Poultry Fanciers Show in February. Our club also scheduled a community pride project on Feb. 27th to clean and repaint Stephens Hall where we hold our meetings. Malachi Church
