Anyone who has had a good share of
fine and elegant dining usually
welcome the serving of cocktail
drinks. After all, cocktails provide
that air of sophistication in any
gathering. As they often come in
many different varieties, what does it
take for one cocktail drink to stand
out from the rest?
The secret is not really in the mixture
of the drinks but more on how these
are prepared. Just take a look at the
martini, composed mainly of gin
partnered with dry vermouth and
either a lemon or olive twist garnish.
A generally simple drink to make, and
yet, it is considered as among the
classic cocktails.
Joe’s Elixer might as well be added to that
exclusive list of must-taste cocktail drinks.
What makes the drink unique? For starters,
the drink is not a totally Western creation,
but something that originated from the
amazing bartending hands of a Chinese man.
Adding to the uniqueness of the drink is its
exclusivity. Do you actually think Joe’s Elixer
can easily be ordered in a nearby Chinese
restaurant? No, it happens to be an exclusive
drink in a Chinese restaurant in centralHong
Kong.
The place is getting rave reviews not
only for its numerous dishes, but for
successfully blending the culture of the
Eastern and the Western worlds.
Chinese dishes are simply mouth-
watering here, and as one review has
aptly described it, the restaurant
decorations are typically Western with
its large mirrored walls complemented
by Oriental structures such as wooden
dividers.
The open air kitchen meanwhile
boasts of a grand oven specially
designed for Peking duck cooking.
What can be expected from this fine
dining area in terms of menu? There
is the Peking duck to get things
started on a grand scale. Considered
as the signature dish of the
restaurant, the Peking duck serving is
roasted to perfection in apple wood
setting and offers a totally unique
way to serve a highly sought-after
menu.
Looking for something traditionally Chinese
like dimsum? The place is never without this.
In fact, this is a certified Chinese dim sum
restaurantwhere dim sum is served in a
variety of ways. These include Shanghainese
Soup Dumplings, Scallop Siu Mai, South
Australian Lobster HarGow, just to name a
few.
More than the dishes, though, the drinks
have become a heavy favorite of the ever-
growing visitors of this newest restaurant in
central Hong Kong. What types of drinks
come highly recommended here? There is
Joe’s Elixer which has been mentioned
previously.
Despite being passed on as a regular cocktail
drink, Joe’s Elixer nevertheless has captured the
interest of even the most discriminating taste
buds. A creation of upcoming bartender
LokGurung, the drink is composed of Gordon’s
Gin mixed with chartreuse, passion fruit, several
berries, shiso, and ginseng. The last ingredient is
particularly interesting since ginseng has long
been considered an aphrodisiac starting way
back in ancient China. LokGurung has yet to
confirm this, but the addition of ginseng to a
cocktail drink like Joe’s Elixer gives this that air
of mystery not readily found in others.
Find the place as well as the food and
Joe's Elixer too tempting to pass up?
The name of the restaurant is Mott32
where a truly awesome dining
experience is waiting.
