South Africa has an urgent need to overcome the shortages in the supply of people with skills in Science and Technology in order to accelerate the economic growth and the developmental needs of the country.
This includes driving programmes that seek to accelerate training output in the priority areas of science, engineering and technology that is so critical to its economic development.
WHAT WAS THE WHAT WAS THE PROBLEM?PROBLEM? Maths and Science results in schools poor. Too few school leavers enter Science, Engineering and Technology careers. Those who manage to enter HE struggle
to make it through due to poor foundation.
