Saints NewsMcDonald's Johnston Supporting the SaintsWe are very grateful to our neighbours at Maccas Johnston for coming on board to be a jersey sponsor for 2020. Maccas has also supplied vouchers to be given as prizes for player of the match for games throughout the season.

Grade of OriginYear 10 steamed home to seal a come from behind victory in the inaugural Grade of Origin clash at MacKillop Field on Tuesday.

Down 16 - 10 at the halftime break, Liam Kennedy delivered a spirited halftime speech - described by some as a spray - that motivated the men in the Senior’s strip to score a further 20 points and take the victory.

Year 9, with Year Co-ordinator Mr. Simon watching from the bleachers, opened the account with 12 unanswered points thanks largely to corner tries from fullback Zac Morgan, centre Toby Roberts and winger Lachlan Lewis. Unfortunately for the younger team, all sideline conversions were missed, leaving a further 12 points not taken. Captain Beau Ryan got over the line again later in the match with the conversion going astray as well.

Dylan Mugadza led the Year 10 comeback with a two try effort and was supported by Jett Wilson, DJ Brown and Liam Kennedy who also bagged tries at key moments in the match. Captain Kennedy was a sharp shooter out there with the boot today knocking over 5 conversions from 5 attempts. Year 9s in the crowd were reported as saying that they wished Kennedy shared a few goals with them.

Coach and referee Mr. Matthew Sharp when asked after the match to highlight some players who really impressed mentioned Harry Fulton who had a strong game for 9s along with Talan Krout who also had a strong debut for the club. Kosi Sibanda chipped in with a nice cameo performance towards the end of the game and was directly involved in the delivery of a 2020 falcon of the year on one of his unsuspecting teammates.

Big congratulations to winning Year Coordinator, Ms. Slingerland, who was simply chuffed to lift the Cox Commemorative Plate in what was her first ever Rugby League match as well.

Big commiserations to former Year 9 captain, Konnar Black, who broke his collarbone leading up to the match in a game of ‘run it straight”.

Speaking of the future of the art form, Smock wrote:“The form of the modern musical is ever evolving. As the art form progresses and new writers, voices and artists emerge to create and reinterpret this distinct form, I believe we have much to learn and witness about the elusive but powerful experience of the ‘musical’. After all, theatre is an evolution and therefore, so is its musical sibling.” Brett Smockwww.ithaca.com/special_sections/summer_ithaca/people-love-musicals----and-here-s-

why/article_88859bce-0e33-11e5-9b40-9bd88bbcb4d8.html

There is nothing better than live art. Participating in a musical can expose students to music, arts, culture, teamwork and more. Most of the benefits of participating in a musical help them in school now as well as in the future as they enter university and later the workforce.

Kind regards,

Lauretta GrahamPrincipal

USA 20th Century Weapons Display

Two of the members of the Arms Collectors' Association of the NT, Craig Wharton and Jared Archibald, are pictured at the College, educating members of Dr Tom Lewis’s Modern History Year 12 class.

The students are studying the “USA in the 20th Century” so the topic for the workshop was “Weapons of the Great War”. Around 50 items were brought in for a 1.5 hour session of handling items, and learning something real about war and conflict. MacKillop College says thanks!

Bombing of Darwin Commemoration

Our College Captains recently represented us with distinction at the Bombing of Darwin Commemoration. On 19 February, they laid book tributes during the ceremony, which commemorate the attack on Australia by enemy forces on that day in 1942, when 235 people died. 188 aircraft from four carriers devastated the town, sinking 11 ships, and destroying 30 aircraft. They are pictured joining former Administrator of the NT - and RAAF veteran from WWII - The Honourable Austin Asche AC QC, before the ceremony, with our staff member and military historian Dr Tom Lewis OAM.

Taylor and Isolde used to be best friends - but it’s been radio silence ever since - until Taylor contacts Isolde to sympathise with her breakup: the breakup that she never saw coming; that

destroyed her confidence and ended her dreams of joining the National Ballet School.

Taylor’s had his own share of challenges, including an accident that has brought his hopes of competing at the Winter Olympics to a halt. Isolde responds to Taylor, to be polite. But what starts out as heartbreak-themed Spotify playlists and shared stories of exes quickly becomes something more. As Taylor and Isolde start to lean on each other, the distance between them begins to feel not so distant after all…

Olivia is just out of high school when she decides to defer her law degree and apply for a job as a private investigator instead. Her childhood ‘friend’ Rosco runs the fledging agency on the Gold Coast, and Olivia is determined to prove to him that she has what it takes to make it as a private investigator.

Sent off to Byron Bay, Olivia is thrust into the world of surfing, yoga and sushi in her quest to expose the truth in her mysterious first case. But there are many twists in this tale. Can Olivia stop the evil ‘McSushi’ empire (who may well even use whale and dolphin meat in their products) from opening in Byron Bay?

The City - mankind’s last refuge in a drowned world, where Whale Lords reign and the Inquisition keeps the peace. The Enemy - a dark power, seeking to take possession of a human body and cause untold chaos. The Inventor - a girl living in the heart of the City in a ramshackle workshop overflowing with curiosities.

When a whale washes up on the City roofs and a mysterious boy emerges from its belly, the superstitious citizens assume the Enemy has come again. Only Ellie - a fearless inventor striving to live up to her mother’s legacy - believes the boy is innocent. Thrown together and now on the run from the ruthless Inquisition, Ellie must discover who this boy really is - and what that means for her own terrible secret . . .
