Review of positive commands…
Do you remember how to form positive, informal commands (telling someone what to do)?
– Start with the “tú” form of the verb
– Drop the ‘-s’ off of the ending
Irregular commands The 7 irregular positive commands
are: Hacer (haz) Ir (ve) Poner (pon) Salir (sal) Ser (sé) Tener (ten) Venir (ven)
¿Cómo se dice…? Eat healthy food.
– Come comida sana. Play soccer every day.
– Juega al fútbol todos los días. Put the fork on the table.
– Pon el tenedor en la mesa. Do your homework.
– Haz la tarea.

NEGATIVE COMMANDS To tell someone what NOT to do,
you should use negative, informal commands
Rule for formation: No = Yo – O Do not forget what you
owe!
Rules for formation: For AR verbs:
– Start with the ‘yo’ form– Drop the final ‘o’ from the conjugated
verb– Add an ‘es’ to the verb.
For example: “COMPRAR”–Compro– compr– no compres
“SALIR”– SALGO– SALG– NO
SALGAS
“CORRER”– CORRO– CORR– NO
CORRAS
For ER and IR verbs:
•Same process, but add an ‘as’ to the verb.
IRREGULARS!! There are only 3 verbs that are
irregular as negative commands:
–Dar (to give) no des– Ir (to go) no vayas–Ser (to be) no seas
PRACTICE!!! Don’t eat a lot of fat.
– No comas mucha grasa. Don’t sleep late.
– No duermas tarde. Don’t smoke.
– No fumes. Don’t go to the party.
– No vayas a la fiesta.
Object and reflexive pronouns with negative
commandsPronouns can be attached to positive
commands:Levántate y búscalo. (Get up and look
for it.)
But, Pronouns must be in front of a negative command:
No te levantes y no lo compres. (Don´t get up and don´t buy it.)
