Having an embedded librarian ensures that students get help when they need it and when they are most receptive to it. Librarians can: • Help students develop a thesis • Help students pick a topic if they don’t know what they would like to write about • Help them locate library materials (and Web sources if those are allowed) • Vet their sources • Check their in-text and parenthetical citations • Check their References/Works Cited page to make sure they have correctly formatted their citations • Post documents or announcements to the Blackboard site (with instructor permission) ABOUT The Betty Sue Jessup Library was originally dedicated in 1991 in honor of Betty Sue Jessup, a local business leader and philanthropist, through an endowment from the James L. Jessup, Sr. family and the Pepsi-Cola Bottling Company of Central Virginia. The Jessup family funded additional upgrades and renovations again in 2007, at which time the library was re-dedicated in Ms. Jessup’s honor. Today, the Betty Sue Jessup Library continues to expand, evolve, and meet the needs of students, faculty, and staff. Collection Stats (Approximate Totals) LIBRARY SERVICES FOR FACULTY
