Responding to local needs, LSC is developing a process to facilitate the placement of younger professionals onto local boards. Through our new Board Shadowing Process LSC is committed to ensuring that any young professionals placed with local agencies have the knowledge to ask the right questions as they engage in meaningful service.

An innovative speed dating-type match up kicked off a board shadowing process on November 30 for local agencies and members of the 2010 Spotlight Stark County Class. The Spotlight Class, our short course that runs in the fall, convenes a talented pool of younger professionals (age 24-34) for leadership training and an introduction to community involvement.

How the BOARD SHADOW PROCESS works: • Community agencies & class members are introduced in 7- minute speed sessions• Agencies & participants rank their choices for matches and LSC proposes the matches • Assignment of a 'board mentor' for the Spotlight “guest board member” for a one -year term. Affinity Medical Center is committed to being a leader in improving women’s health and supporting their unique role as family healthcare managers. We’ve listened to women in our community who’ve said they want more information about how to take better care of themselves and the people they love . . . and that led to the launch of our Healthy Woman program!

Healthy Woman is a comprehensive education resource, designed to empower women with the knowledge and confidence to make informed healthcare and well-being decisions for themselves and their

loved ones. Free events will give women information about health, communication, relationships and life balance issues.

On Thursday, May 13, 2010, Affinity kicked off the Healthy Woman Program with over 600 women in attendance at The

University Center at Kent State University – Stark Campus with guest speaker Ali Vincent, America’s First Female Winner of the “Biggest Loser.” Woman from all over came to the FREE Women’s Expo and the sold out dinner and listened to Vincent’s life-changing story.

The Healthy Woman Program also offers an online community to connect with other Healthy Woman members! Healthy Woman Online is a new social media site that will help you find information for local Healthy Woman events in your area as well as online health resources

to answer your health questions. Make friends, share helpful hints, access healthy recipes and have meaningful conversations – all in one community. To find out more, visit the hospital’s web site at www.affinitymedicalcenter.com and click on Healthy Woman.

Coming in 2011Save the Date for Affinity’s Healthy Woman One Year Anniversary Event on Thursday, May 5th at The University Center with Guest Speaker – Dale Smith Thomas!
