Timeline Obstacles and o Last year, the Silent auction portion of the night was not as successful as was hoped because of the nature of the venue (the casino games were upstairs and the auction was downstairs). This year, it will be more integrated into the venue’s layout so that it is more accessible. Furthermore, one prize will be auctioned live in order to increase awareness of the auction. o Attendees often used “on the housemoney”, but they did not purchase more once it was spent. The ticket price was high, so they spent less on games. To avoid this obstacle, the ticket price of the event may be lowered so that more people can attend. Additionally, a free babysitting service will be provided to help decrease the overall cost of attendance. o Mid-October : Book Venue o Late October: Reserve caterer/beverage provider o Early November: Send save-the-date cards to invitees o Mid-November: Reserve casino games o Late November: Finalize corporate sponsorship o Early December: Send formal invitations; begin advertisement o Mid-December: Finalize silent Funding The event’s start-up funding will come from the James River Baseball Program’s existing account.
