The Case for Collaboration
• Perhaps the most used term in our industry and yet the least well adopted?
• In the 2015 ECITB PM Conference there was overwhelming endorsement for a better approach to project collaboration
• What does this mean?

Collaboration (in our industry)
• The best people• Delivering the right work• With appropriate risk and reward• Solving issues together• Focussing on the end outcomes• With an aligned contract• It’s all about people, attitudes and behaviours

A key question………

A tool to help leaders• The Toolkit is intended to serve as a “go to”
guide for:– Executive managers– Project sponsors– Project managers– Project teams
• Presented as a workflow with four distinct phases that map to a typical project lifecycle
• Can be used to support project collaboration from inception to completion or for individual phases/activities
• Provides guidance focuses on “what” should be done rather than “how” certain activities should be approached – it is not a process set

The Project Management community recognises that the industry can become more resilient by reducing costs in a sustainable way through collaboration. To address this the Collaboration Toolkit was developed to provide guidance to Operators and Service Providers.

Phase 2 – use & support
Aims :
1. Identify clear evaluation criteria, implement and provide feedback and guidance for future use to ensure the ongoing use of the PCT & capture of best practice.
2. Obtain and evaluate comparative data from across projects (subject to individual project agreement, nothing commercially sensitive)
3. Practical support to identified projects including facilitation & evaluation workshops, ensuring effective data sharing & giving feedback to companies to enable their effective collaboration based on the PCT.
Achieved by:
Encouraging uptake in Industry and asking clients to ‘register’ 8‐10 Collaborative Projects of differing size and scope using the PCT
Evaluation Benefits realisation Continuous improvement
