A former first-round selection by Texas in the 1972 draft, Howell logged time in the PCL as a player with Spokane (1974) and Portland (1985), as well as three seasons as a hitting coach with Portland (2000-02). Pitching coach Jaime Navarro, who is entering his 6th season with the Mariners organization, returns to the Rainiers after spending the last 3 seasons as the Mariners bullpen coach. Cory Snyder, who spent the last 3 seasons with Jackson, will serve as hitting coach. The former catcher spent 9 seasons behind the plate for the Mariners and 21 seasons in professional baseball after originally selected by the Mariners in the second round of the 1978 MLB Draft. Valle played for 4 teams in his 13-year Major League career, including the Mariners (1984-93), Boston (1994), Milwaukee (1994) and Texas (1995-96). He finished with a .237 lifetime batting average, 77 home runs and 350 RBI. Nasusel Cabrera, who also serves as the Latin American Pitching Coordinator, enters his first season with Everett after spending the last four seasons as pitching coach with Pulaski. Andy Bottin and Mike Davis will serve as coaches, while trainer Shane Zdebiak and performance coach Michael Guarino, each enters for their first season in the Mariners organization.
