4 International Airport

Wattay International Airport is the main entry point by air for international.

Luang Prabang Internationa Airport is now an international entry point, and regular flight are available from Luangprabang to Vientiane, Chiang Mai, Bangkok, Hanoi, Jinghong, Chendu, Siemreap, Singapore and Incheon.

Savannaket Interanational Airport, the only international flight on this route is Savannaket to Bangkok.

Pakse International Airport is topover point from Vientiane to Cambodia.

The government has place high importance on the tourism sector bycontinuously facilitating its development and growth. As a result, there isdramatic increase in tourists from over 670,000 in 2000 to over one millionvisitors in 2005. in 2010, there were more than 2.5 million visitors, a 29%increase from 2009 with average length of 7 days. The sector has generatedmore than USD 381 million income, second to the mining and mineral sector,which is approximately 8.0% of the national GDG. It is estimated that by 2016tourism arrivals will reach 4.2 million visitors and 4.3 million by 2020 that willgenerate approximately USD 550-760 million per annum.

predominant tourists visiting Lao PDR come from the followingcountries: in ASEAN countries: Thailand and Vietnam; in Asia-Pacific:China, Japan, Korea and Australia. Apart from the Asian market there are up-market tourists from Europe and America.
