LANKALIVESTOCK 2021 – Sri Lanka’s No.1 International Feed and Livestock Production Exhibition is returning to Sri Lanka for its 2nd edition at the Sri Lanka Exhibition & Convention Centre, Colombo from 21-23 July 2021. The inaugural event in 2017 made an impact by being the country’s first business-to-business exhibition that delivered key decision makers and buyers for Sri Lanka’s feed, livestock and dairy production sector.
The Minister of Agriculture, Rural Economic Affairs, Livestock Development, Irrigation and Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development has called upon members of the industry to promote the consumption of meat, eggs, milk and other livestock products in order to ensure that the nation meets nutrition requirements. This will need the modernisation of farming and agriculture techniques and LANKALIVESTOCK 2021 is the perfect avenue to unveil the latest innovations, new solutions and emerging technologies boost efficiency and production in the feed, livestock and dairy production sectors.
This business-to-business exhibition will provide the suppliers of agriculture, feed and livestock production equipment a platform to meet with farmers, plantation owners, feed producers, veterinarians, processors and integrators to explore business opportunities and form strategic partnerships. Over 200 international brands from 18 countries including Pavilions from China, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam are expected to take part at LANKALIVESTOCK 2021.

In June 2019, the Sri Lankan Government has set targets for State owned Enterprises including the National Livestock Development Board to enhance their performance via Statement of Corporate Intent (SCI) with the Finance Ministry. The selected SOEs must achieve their objectives by 2020-2021.
Under the SCI, Milco (Pvt) Ltd must aim to raise its market share of milk-based products to 35% before the end of 2021, compared to the present 25%. It must also boost its production cacapity from 400,000 litres daily to 600,000 litres daily before the end of 2021.
Pelwatte Dairy Industries Limited has re-launched a state-of-the-art animal feed plant near to its milk processing farm and factory in Buttala. The plant produces 1,200 tonnes of cattle feed per month, with plans to begin poultry feed production soon.
French company Boccard to set up six mini dairy processing plants in an investment totalling EUR 13.9 million. The plants will be operated by six dairy entities in Attanagalla, Kaduwela, Polonnaruwa, Wariyapola, Batticaloa and Wennapuwa.
The National Livestock Development Board has been instructed by the Agriculture, Rural Economic Affairs, Livestock Development, Irrigation and Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development Minister P. Harrison to promote the consumption of meat, eggs, milk and other livestock products.
