Year 6 Play – Into the Woods With three sold out performances the Year 6 production of Into the Woods was a huge success. It was such an entertaining performance that provided the three audiences with a lot of enjoyment. You found yourself smiling and laughing through the entire show. The way the students remembered their lines, sang the songs, remembered their cues, performed their dances, played the music and managed the sets was remarkable. The costumes, sets, lighting and effects all added to what was a memorable show. Well done Year 6 for all the hard work and a fantastic performance. I must thank the Lane Cove Theatre Company for all their support with the production. In particular, thanks to Emily Patterson and Ross Mildwater who have both put in countless hours in the evenings and on weekends to get things ready. Thank you to Cheryl Oxley and the musicians. Thank you Doug Cardew, Jeremy Cardew and the crew for all of their time and support with the sound and lighting. Thank you to the parent coordinators Nicole Hanmer and Felicity Mendonca and all the parents who contributed in so many ways – props, costumes, set construction, hair and make-up and canteen. Thank you to the ex-students who returned to help in various functions in the back stage crew. Thank you to our amazing Year 6 teachers, Alan Russell, Jess Comensoli and Emilia Leonardi who have put in so many extra hours of their own time to ensure that the students had this wonderful opportunity. Lastly a huge thank you and congratulations to Pip King who has led the production with enthusiasm, passion and expertise. Congratulations and thank you to all involved for a wonderful community event. Please see a copy of the program and more photos later in the Loop. In response to the recent bushfires, Red Cross are supporting bushfire-affected communities in NSW by providing a safe place to take shelter, psychological first aid, information, and practical support through the months and even years it can take to recover. P & C News Friday is our End of Year BBQ, and final P&C event for 2019 – 5pm start with a $5 per family donation. There will be food trucks, jumping castle, disco and a jazz band, hope to see you there.
Christmas trees will be arriving at the school on Saturday the 7th of December. If you are able to give us a hand for a short time, it would be appreciated. We will be helping people who have ordered trees to choose their tree, trim the base and take it to their car. It’s a great way to give some time back to our school and enjoy a few happy hours with other parents.
Sign up at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f054faaad2fa2f58-lcps2 I missed a thank you last week. Clare Gaunt has been an immense help to the P&C and school community as our Communications/IT expert for several years. Clare will not be continuing her role next year so a massive thank you to Clare for all her efforts over the last few years Myles Davis - LCPS P&C President https://lanecovepublicpandc.org.au/
URGENT:
Fun Run Coordinator needed. This role can be shared. Run Sheets and organising processes are all
documented. Without someone taking on this role there will be NO LANE COVE FUN RUN in 2020.
The Fun Run is the biggest contributor to the P&C’s funding of the school. No Fun Run means less
resources available for our children. Previous Coordinators and Committee are happy to assist you. If
you can’t help, please encourage other parents to take on this role.
Music Committee needed. Previous Music Committee members have done a fantastic effort to
establish a Music Program that is unrivalled in NSW public primary schools and involves more than a
third of the school. Without a Music Committee we will unfortunately need to reduce the Music Program
in 2020. Only basic services – groups, orchestras, bands and lessons will be provided. There will be
limited concerts, no ability to schedule extension sessions, and external performances will also need to
be cut from the program. Please contact [email protected] if you can help keep our amazing
Music Program going.
