Labor Day: We celebrate Labor Day on Monday, September 7. Labor Day, the first Monday of September, was established by congress in 1894; the bill was signed by President Cleveland. This Labor Day, let us pray especially for those who minister in hospitals and are caring for those who have become ill because of COVID 19 and for all whose la-bors make them vulnerable to being infected by this virus. Let us also pray for those who out of work because of layoffs which were the result of COVID 19.
Wish to schedule a Mass to be offered for someone, living or de-ceased: Contact Sister Kathleen at [email protected] or call her at the church 507-331-7253. The Mass intention book is now kept at the church. It is best to make contact with her before coming to the church to assure that she will be at the desk when you come. Many people thought there was little availability for Masses…there are still open times for Mass intentions in this month. The intention book is available for scheduling through September 30, 2021. One does not “pay” for Masses; however, the usual stipend to have a Mass offered in this diocese is $7.00.
Pastoral Care Ministry: Pastoral care is working hard to expand the Divine Mercy pen pal ministry, bringing communion to those who don’t get to church, and get parish communication to those who would like it. We need your help to identify those in need of support. If you are willing to be a pen pal, bringing communion to those in need, or willing to deliver communications, like the weekly bulletin please email or call Bernadette Tatge at [email protected] or 507-331-7253. Training from Bernadette and essential three requirements from the Archdiocese will need to be completed before bringing Communion to someone. Thanks to all who have responded to the need. We just need a few more people to help out.
Faribault Prayer Walk: We will be joining other parishes to walk the streets of Faribault and pray on the weekend of September 25-26. A map of our section of town will be provided. We can either walk, bike, or drive the route. If you have limitations and can’t walk, bike or drive, you can take the map and spend an hour in prayer either in your home, at church, or at the chapel. We have been asked that everyone who participates would spend one hour in prayer sometime in a 24 hour period. I don’t have the set 24 hour period yet so more information will be coming. Many of you did this last year and found it to be a very empowering spiritual experience. Come join us for a day of spiritual unity in Faribault. Please email or call Bernadette Tatge at [email protected] or 507-331-7253 to sign up or ask questions.
Check your communication folder for the Quilt/Afghan drawing tickets and CCW letter. We will again have an "early bird" drawing in con-nection with Spirit Fest. The drawing for the quilt/afghan will be at our December 7 CCW meeting.
We will be serving a meal at Caring and Sharing Hands in Minneapolis on Monday, September 14. Anyone who would like to donate pur-chased cookies is asked to bring them to the church kitchen by Sunday, Sept. 13. Because of COVID-19 we will not be taking homemade cook-ies.
Next CCW meeting is Monday, September 14 at 6:15 pm in the St. Faustina Commons.
In today’s Gospel, Jesus says: “…where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” Through your almsgiving you are performing a good work; far greater than you think. Your gifts of time and money to St. Vincent de Paul bring Christ’s love and compassion to the poor.
What are we to think of it Lord? It is a life and it is destroyed by the heinous act of abortion. It's wrong. You wonder what would have be-come of all those lives. A life of poverty? Wealth? Health or sickness? It doesn't really matter because those lives will never be. They were destroyed before they ever had a chance.
Bethlehem Academy is accepting applications for Substitute teachers. If you enjoy working with young people, have a college degree and are looking for a part-time position, please contact Sister Mary Margaret at BA at 508-334-3948 or [email protected].
Last month a prayer intention was shared at Mass for our Sister Parish Communities in Panajachel, Guatemala as they are facing a crisis with food shortage. You, as parishioners here, have responded with an outpouring of love and generosity. A total of $8,000 was given by five families in our parish, all of whom wish to remain anonymous. This money will be used to purchase food and supplies by the at our Sister Parish as needed as they continue to battle the restrictions placed on them due to Covid19. Let us continue to offer up prayers for all those who are in greater need. Thank you for your generosity.
Registrations are coming in and we are grateful for those who have submitted their information already! We have been hearing that people are planning to wait to register for a variety of reasons. We want to be respectful where families are at with how comfortable they are with the COVID protocols but we do need people to regis-ter.
If students are not registered by September 11th we cannot guarantee that we will be able to allow them in our program.
Many of you are asking for a detailed plan which we are not able to give at this time. We are planning to start classes at the end of Sep-tember. We really need to wait and see how school goes then make plans from there. As of right now we are planning in-person events with proper safety protocols.
St. Anne’s Homeschool group meets weekly to support the Catholic children and parents of Divine Mercy Catholic Church. We will meet weekly through the school year to celebrate Holy Mass togeth-er at 8:30am beginning Tuesday, September 8th. Our next home-school parent meeting will be at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, September 15th. Please contact Andrea Gibbs with questions: [email protected].

What is a Synod? What is the purpose?
“A Synod is a formal representative assembly designed to help a bish-op in his shepherding of the local Church.”
The purpose is “to discern and establish clear pastoral priorities in a way that will both promote greater unity and lead us to a more vigor-ous proclamation of Jesus’ good news.”
See the flier for information regarding the latest way (in addition to prayer) for participation in the synod process beginning soon.
