• RepRap project (Replication Rapid-Prototyper) is a movement with the aim to provide open source 3D printers, DIY and at low price

• The first RepRap was invented in 2004 by Adrian Bowyer, professor at university of Bath.

• The printer has the capacity of printing most of his parts and create a copy of itself.

"It’s stupid to 3-D print an entire shoe “

“Mass-producing a shoe in the traditional way costs a couple of dollars maybe, while 3-D printing one costs hundreds due to time and materials." Better is to leverage the technology’s strength—its ability

to customize—and print only the shoe parts that would benefit from it, such as insoles or cleats

Duann Scott of SparkAutodesk’s open-source 3-D-printing platform.

"Fashion designers normally don't work in 3-D in an advanced manner”

“Even Iris van Herpen needs architects to get all her 3-D work done."

Behrad Ghodsi Behrad Ghodsi is a Tehran based Industrial designer who created ATOSSA. The purpose of this project is to develop a range of stylish footwear design concepts to be made with 3D printing technology, which would speed up the production process and reduce the cost of production.

This idea will allow everyone to use these prepared design and print usable products by a regular 3D printer.

Eric Meijer Dutch designer who has combined 3D printed plastics and steel with traditional fabrication methods in the name of a new shoe collection that he has called “Eye Candy Shoes“

“Assembly could be done in less than 10 minutes and the shoes are ready for shipping. The big advantages of this will be no more need for stock, or expensive machines for assembly.”
