Winter Clothing

It’s time to get the winter clothing out!! We would ask families to go through their loved one’s closets to remove summer clothes thus making room for the winter clothes. Sorting thru the

clothes will keep them in better shape and help with over-crowding. Thank you

Another fine example of what wonderful staff we have, we would like to

acknowledge some extra special employees here at Kings Way.

Knowing that Cari Sherwood’s birthday was coming up in October,

Jolene Stevens decided to do something really nice for our youngest

resident and give her a birthday to remember. Jolene, Lori Landry and

Lisa Jardine, came in one evening to paint and redecorate Cari’s room,

making her feel like a princess.

They then organized a special outing for Cari – a

surprise Karaoke party at the Amici!! Inviting Cari’s family, her special

friend Paul and all staff.

We have such incredible people working here and it is truly an honor to be

part of such a special home. Thank you so much ladies for caring so deeply

and making sure all of our wonderful residents feel loved and cherished!!

The Eden Alternative - It Can Be Different

The Eden Alternative Philosophy of Care is guided by a set of Ten Principles.

The Eden Alternative Principle #1

The three plagues of loneliness, helplessness, and boredom account for the bulk

of suffering among our elders.

An elder is defined as someone who is here to teach us by virtue of their life experiences.

Loneliness is the pain we feel when we want companionship but cannot find it; the feeling of

being completely alone even when surrounded by people.

Helplessness is defined as the pain we feel when we only receive care, but never give it. These

imbalances between care giving and receiving is the result of believing that those living in

nursing homes only need our help and have nothing left to give.

Boredom is the pain we feel when our lives lack variety and spontaneity. When we live in a world

where there are no surprises left. Imagine living the rest of your life in a world like that.

These three plagues can kill the human spirit as surely as disease processes can destroy the body.

These plagues are 100% preventable and 100% curable.

Take the ten minute challenge and take on one of these plagues today for someone you

love and care about! Together we can all make the difference!!

Thank You Wendy!!

The Adult Day Program held an appreciation get-together for Wendy Maber, a

member of our staff who had been working in the program since it began. The

Adult Day Program has moved to the Kings Way Assembly on Kingsway Drive and contin-

ues under the leadership of the Kings Way LifeCare Alliance. Even so, saying so long for

now can be difficult as Wendy and the seniors came to find out.

When shopping or just on a country drive you

need to take time to rest, just ask Calvin, Mar-

garet, Lillian or Jennifer.

The school program is a

huge success with both

seniors and students alike.

Our residents love children and

are shown here packing back-

packs for some less fortunate

children and making Halloween

treat bags.

Many hands make light work

or so it seems when making

apple pies!!

Ted McCullum enjoys looking after

the bunnies.

This thank you goes

out to our volunteers

along with one of our bus drivers,

Brian. They gave some of the

residents an opportunity to go to

the Imperial Theatre for a country

music show. From all accounts a

great time was had by all!!

“Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever! Amen
