WE DO IT FOR THE KIDS!Little Seed Theatre Company continued to thrive in 2014. Since its inception in 2009,
hundreds of students have flourished within the creative, supportive and safe culture that
Johanna had developed at Little Seed. Recently after a full day of rehearsal Johanna was
asked just why she does it. Johanna simply replied, “We do it for the kids.” “It” includes
after school classes, weekend workshops and holiday programs and more recently:
dance, musical theatre and acting for adults. “It” is also the personal touch where the
individual performer is adopted into the Little Seed community and encouraged to
develop their own talent and character.
Little Seed operates in Cooroy, Coolum, Nambour and soon in Eumundi. Little Seed
recently partnered with Gavin Hamburger Productions and Music School performing
Broadway excerpts at the RACQ Gala Ball held at Twin Waters. In August, Little Seed
entered five plays including 32 students into the Sunshine Coast Youth Theatre Festival,
winning best and second best play, best ensemble, three best supporting actor awards,
the adjudicator’s award and the $1000 Youth Bursary which went to Paris Williment.
In 2015, Little Seed Theatre Company will tour a show to various venues on the Sunshine
Coast, giving young people the opportunity to perform to a range of audiences. Next
year Little Seed will establish a studio in Sunshine Beach, allowing for new classes
including: hip hop, jazz, dance classes for adults and acting for film.
The hugely popular Summer School program will run over two weeks: January 5-9 and
January 12-16, with students performing on the respective Friday of each week. The
early bird discount is open until December 15 and family discounts apply. The holidays
program is a win for all: a Christmas present for kids and January relief for parents. Doing
it for the parents too!
Little Seed Theatre Company is committed to creating a fun, inclusive community,
working with young people of all ages and abilities. There are classes for the student
who would like to approach theatre from a social and personal growth perspective as
well as Master Classes for students whose passion is to perform. Catering from 4 years
to adult.

SEA LIFE MOOLOOLABA
REVEALS EXCITING
PLANS THIS SUMMER.New seal arrivals and new interactive seal experience to be unveiled next month
SEA LIFE Mooloolaba revealed plans to introduce a brand new interactive experience opening in time
for the summer school holidays and announced it will welcome the addition of two new seals into the
attraction.
In December, the SEA LIFE Mooloolaba seal family of seven will be joined by two Australian Sea Lions
and a new interactive learning seal experience will open to further educate visitors about the charismatic
creatures and discover their aquatic adventures through a trio of unique displays, focusing on the fun
senses of sound, smell and sight.
SEA LIFE Mooloolaba General Manager Craig Connor said the addition of the new seals and experience
is a major step towards understanding and protecting the species, while continuing the attraction’s
conservation mission to educate the public about these animals.
“The team at SEA LIFE Mooloolaba is really excited about the arrival of our new seals, as well as the
revitalisation of the seal area. Not many people realise that the Australian Sea Lion is an endangered
species. It is one of the rarest species in the world, and it is vital we learn about their behaviours to help
to protect them,” he said.
“We are home to a wide range of common and endangered animals and the SEA LIFE Mooloolaba team
is passionate about helping to further educate the public on the ecological significance and the need for
research and conservation.
“We are really looking forward to welcoming the new seals, as well as unveiling our revitalised seal area.
We are confident visitors are going to enjoy experiencing the new ‘Seal Discovery’ and learning more
about these fascinating creatures along the way.”
The new Seal Discovery experience will give visitors the opportunity to sit inside a seal pod and talk
like the marine mammals through a microphone simulation, which transforms the visitor’s voice into seal
vocalisation. They will also get to experience what a seal smells like and also peak through an upside-
down camera to gain a glimpse into what it’s like for a seal living underwater.
As well as the sound, smell and sight displays, ‘Seal Discovery’ will also include new interactive story
boards packed with information about endangered species of seals and seal stories.
The new seals will join Portia, SEA LIFE Mooloolaba’s resident Australian Sea Lion who has been at the
attraction for 25 years, along with other resident seals including Australian Fur Seals and New Zealand
Fur Seals. SEA LIFE Mooloolaba is involved with a number of conservation initiatives and implements
and advocates the strong ethical and environmental values of BREED, RESCUE and PROTECT.
SEA LIFE Mooloolaba completed a two year, $6.5 million refurbishment last year, introducing new zones,
new species and Australia’s largest exhibit of jellyfish. Earlier this year the attraction also revealed a
new Turtle Hospital dedicated to rehabilitating sick or injured turtles and implementing new turtle health
checks. For more information please visit www.underwaterworld.com.au.
