I would like to take this opportunity to thank my staff for their efforts and professionalism. I have full confidence in the capabilities of all my staff and know that they have the best interests of their children in mind at all times. In forming classes for 2016, the current year level teachers have taken into consideration friendship groups as well as the academic, social and emotional needs of the children. As parents, you may have had requests in regard to your child’s placement in regard to particular friendship requests. These should have been put in writing and forwarded to the year level coordinator. These requests will be considered in light of all considerations, most importantly, your child’s individual needs. I have every faith in my teaching staff and will not consider requests for a particular teacher. Russell Gascoigne, Principal. Parents/Carers An enormous sign of relief was felt by the Year 3 students as the Camp Day Excursion was rescheduled
quickly and without any further issues. The Year 3 students ‘resilience was both impressive and commendable. Our City

Prep Update: Term Four
As we are fast approaching the end of our prep students’
first year of school, the children are preparing for Grade One.
We have had two ‘Up Day’ sessions where the prep children
have attended a grade one classroom to practise for 2016.
The prep children have been FANTASTIC at demonstrating
their organisation and resilience when attending grade one.
2016 class lists and teachers will be known on Tuesday 8
December. The children will participate in a ‘Meet the
Teacher’ session where they will meet their new classmates
and teacher.
Our Lynbrook Primary Christmas Carols are scheduled for
Thursday 3 December. All families are encouraged to
attend. The prep children will be sitting with their class and
teacher and once the carols have concluded will be picked
up by their parent/guardian.
The prep team thanks all of our prep families for your
ongoing support throughout the school year. We wish you a
safe, happy and healthy Summer break with your families!
We look forward to seeing all of the children return, ready
for an exciting 2016 school year!
Year 1
What an amazing effort, Grade Ones. On Tuesday we had
many families and friends in awe of the amazing displays
and performances showcased in our Investigations Gala
Presentation afternoon.
The effort put in by all students was highly evident and
they delighted in sharing what they had learnt about
Sustainability. Many thanks to the families, friends and
staff who attended, showed their support and asked
questions. It was wonderful to see how confident the
children were and how much they have learnt about
looking after the environment and the positive role they
can play to ensure a healthy future.
Year 2
Year 2 have been very busy as we prepare for the end of
the school year! As part of our unit on ‘celebrations’ we
will be having class celebrations, we will keep you posted
about when these are about to occur! We are very much
looking forward to our Camp Day next Friday, please get
your forms in as soon as possible so we can order dinners
promptly. This is a fantastic experience and sets our
students up for the years to come, in what is the greatest
primary school camping/outdoor Ed program in Australia!
We have also been very busy practising ‘Rudolph the Red
Nose Reindeer’ for the LPS Christmas Concert.
We are sounding fantastic and the
actions are even better!!!!!
See you there….
Year 6
The Lift– by Jack B
It was like Dylan was the only living thing on the mountain.
Him and whoever- or whatever-was sitting next to him. Dylan
peered to his left, he asked the strange guy who he was. Still no
response. He peered back to the right then back to the left again.
Whatever was sitting next to him had disappeared, vanished into
thin air.
A sudden southern breeze blasted over his back. Once again a
chill blasted down his spine. Suddenly the lift stopped in its tracks.
Dylan looked behind him the once empty seats were filled with
people all peering in the same direction Dylan was peering,
towards the lodge.
Then all the unknown figures looked straight at Dylan. None of
them had faces, just rusted skulls. The figures rose from their
seats and hovered towards Dylan. Gripping him with their cold
hands, the ghostly figures hoisted Dylan to the top of the
mountain. He once again came face to face with whatever was
sitting next to him on the lift, as well as Clifton and his best friend
Adam.
"Wait so who is this guy, Adam?" questioned Dylan.
"He's Bobby Miller," announced Adam.
"But all those years as friends,"
"I betrayed you Dylan, sorry I'm just to jealous,"
"If your really Adam, show me your walkie talkie,"
"My pleasure,"
On the walkie talkie read the inscription Dylan Smith. Dylan
looked in his pocket, he didn't have a walkie talkie. Adam pulled
out yet another walkie talkie from his pocket. This time the
inscription read Adam Thomas.
"How did you get your hands on my walkie talkie?" shouted Dylan.
"Look let me explain everything, all those years how I told you the
story of Bobby,
How did I know about him Dylan?" Explained Adam.
"Because you had already met him, you set me up!"
Dylan began to expand his arms and grab his former best friend.
Clifton grabbed Dylan by the throat. Clifton's hands were cold as
ice.
"Let me guess Clifton, you're a ghost too," he murmured.
"That's right," Clifton boomed.
Clifton threw Dylan down the mountain he continued to roll as he
smashed into a tree. He sat there lying unconscious.
Bobby, Adam and Clifton all walked over to him. Dylan, was dead!
2 years later...
Adam ripped through the sweet snow nailing a 360 spinning past
two trees but then smashing into a third the force of the crash
rocketed him back into another snowboarder.
He was dead.
Dylan's spirit sat on the tree watching everyone nailing tricks, he
still admired snowboarding and every night would go
snowboarding with his spiritual friends. Adam and Dylan settled
themselves because Adam was no longer jealous of Dylan
because they were both equal in talent as Adam had live for two
more years than Dylan. Knowing that he could now snowboard
beside Adam again was an awesome feeling.

The Grade 5s Hit the City Our Visit to Parliament House & NGV
A recount of the Grade 5 excursion to Parliament House and the National Gallery.
Written by a variety of talented Grade 5 students. On the 9th and 11th of November the Grade 5s departed on the train heading to Parliament Station because we were going to Parliament House and the National Gallery of Victoria for an extraordinary tour of history. (By Sapu, 5W) On Monday 9th, my group met at the station at exactly 7:20am. Our parents had to sign us in and then the teachers would let our parents go. When our train arrived at 7:38am we all jumped on and the train drive off. Seven out of fifity-eight kids got to sit in a chair, while others were asked to stand. That’s how busy it was! But we all kept a smile on our face and pulled our socks up and didn’t complain. (By Jasmine, 5L) As we arrived at Parliament Station we got off the train, only to get on to the nauseatingly high elevator. When we reached the surface, I took in a sweet relieving breath of fresh air. I looked over to the hulking building in the distance that was Parliament House. We walked over and as we entered we were immediately deprived of forks, spoons and anything sharp. Our bags were also scanned and taken. (By Sithupa, 5W) We started in the Green Room (Legislative Assembly), it looked amazing. I wanted to touch lots of stuff but instead we had to answer questions. Then we went to the second area, the Red Room (Legislative Council). It was beautiful. I tried to answer a question but then it was time to go. (By Daniella, 5M) Then we went to the National Gallery of Victoria. Our guide told us we would explore history through art. We learned that aboriginal people didn’t write, so instead they painted in order to communicate. (By Aswin, 5L) Then we went to the playground where Lachlan, Ethan F, Xander, Tyler and I found twelve four-leaf clovers. After our exhausting day we jumped on a train home and this time we had seats! (By Marko, 5B) In my opinion I think it should be recommended for an excursion for Grade 5s next year. (By Paige, 5L)
