ISRAEL UPDATE - MARCH 26, 2021 United Nations Human Rights Council Continues its anti-Israel Discrimination The United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) approved an anti- Israel resolution yesterday, calling for an arms embargo against Israel. This is the fourth consecutive year such a resolution has come before the Council, but this time included some of the harshest language against Israel ever passed, alleging that Israel might use arms to “commit or facilitate serious violations or abuses of international human rights law.” The Council is scheduled to pass four resolutions this session aimed at singling out and delegitimizing the Jewish state. The UNHRC has a long history of an anti-Israel discrimination, including having passed over 90 anti-Israel resolutions since its founding. The Biden administration must oppose the Council’s efforts to promote boycotts of Israel, and demand reforms—including removing Israel as a permanent agenda item and working with allies to oppose the Council’s anti-Israel bias.
