ISRAEL UPDATE - JULY 9, 2021 House Appropriations Committee Fully Funds $3.3 Billion in Aid Israel Every year, AIPAC lobbies Congress to fully fund security assistance to Israel. This vital aid is the most tangible manifestation of America’s support for the Jewish state. As Israel faces growing threats, this investment helps keep our ally strong and secure while furthering America’s national security interests. Last week, the House Appropriations Committee fully funded $3.3 billion in security assistance to Israel. The Committee’s appropriation, with no added political conditions, reflects the strong bipartisan commitment for Israel’s security in Congress and the Biden administration. This bill includes significant pro-Israel provisions that AIPAC has lobbied for, and that will help keep Israel safe and America strong. The bill still needs to be approved by the full House and Senate, but this is a critical step in the right direction. AIPAC applauds the members of the House Appropriations Committee who led these and other important bipartisan pro-Israel initiatives. K.I. partners with AIPAC, America’s pro-Israel lobby, in educating our community on issues affecting the U.S.-Israel relationship. Tisha B’Av commemorates destruction, but also bears with it the hope of redemption. We will mark the end of this somber day by hearing stories from members of our community and from outside of our local community who have suffered personally from addiction or have a loved one who has; and we will reflect on the path from addiction to recovery as a form of transition from destruction to redemption. The program is a collaborative effort of the Rabbinical Association and JFS of Greater KC. Register for the Sunday program at: https://docs.google.com/REGISTRATIONTISHABAAVSUNDAYJULY18 Links to connect via Zoom for each event will be sent a couple of days in advance.
