Triple Offset High PerformanceButterfly Valve
The unique triple offset metal - seat designof the VaSTron Valve provides exceptionalperformance and dependability over a broadrange of applications and service conditions.Designed and built to the applicablerequirements of ASME B16.34 and API STD609, VaSTron valves provide positive sealingperformance from vacuum to 1,500 PSI(103Bar) and at temperatures from -425˚
F(254℃) to + 1500℉(816℃).
Advantages
• Quarter turn convenience
• A tight metal-to-metal sealing system
• Long Life Seats Tricentric geometry prevents seat or seal wear by eliminating interference between the body seat and disc mounted seal.
• Torque seated, self-compensating for temperature differences.
• Available in a wide range of materials including advanced alloys capable of resisting micro-geological corrosion.
• Fire-safe, tested to API 607
• Cryogenic proven - zero leakage at -425℉
• Shell tested to ASME and MSS standards
• Blowout proof shaft per API-609
• Non binding/sticking seats
• Excellent flow and control characteristics
• Reliable service at conditions more severe than other valves can endure.
The Prussian Blue Seat Test clearlydemonstrates VaSTron®'s superior, leak-tight, positive seal. Dye applied to the discproduces seating line contacts only-withabsolutely no rubbing or wear. The non-jamming seating of VaSTron® valvesremains bubble tight after thousands ofcycles.
Designed to never rub or gall, VaSTron®
Valves remain bubble tight after more than50,000 cycles.
Dye Test showing no wear or rubbing
Seat contact does not occur until thedisc is seated closed.
On opening the seal lifts cleanly off the seatat all points allowing long life and quality
The VaSTron® principle of operation is geometry inmotion. Both the seat in the body and the seal onthe disc are surfaces of a cone which is sectionedat an angle. The valve shaft is located slightly toone side of the seat center and a little bit abovethe plane of the seat. Its center of rotation is alsosomewhat offset from the axis of the imaginarycone which extends from the surface of the seat.
When the valve is closed, the surface of the sealand the seat are in full contact at all points. Anyeffort to try to further close the disc (rotate it intothe seat) increases the sealing force and tightensthe valve. This allows the valve to be bi-directionally tight.
Opening the valve, or rotating the disc away fromits seat, results in the seal moving away from theseat at all points. This action eliminates rubbing orsliding of the seating surfaces thus avoiding wear.
VaSTron features true non-rubbing seatingsurfaces for long life and tight shutoff.
VaSTron® Sealing System
TRIPLE OFFSET
Offset #1 The shaft is positionedforward of the valve seat providing anuninterrupted seating surface.
Offset #2 Centerline of disc rotation islocated away from the centerline of theseat allowing the seal to lift off and awayfrom the seat on opening.
Offset #3 The cone axis is offset fromthe centerline of the seal to provide aconical sealing surface that allows theseal to rotate in and out of the seatwithout interference, sliding or jamming.
VaSTron's Metal Seated Valves outperform resilientseated and high performance butterfly valves at highpressure and temperature levels.
SERVICE RANGES
VaSTron Valves outperform conventional and highperformance butterfly valves over all service ranges.
VaSTron®
Has 3-Way eccentricity. The metal seatis capable of very tight shut off attemperatures up to 1,200℉ or higher.
HIGH-PERFORMANCE
The eccentric shaft results in anuninterrupted seal which can be used athigher pressures and temperatures. However, the resilient seats wear andcan plug with solids.
CONVENTIONAL
Center shaft which penetrates aresilient seal. Suitable for lowtemperature, low pressure servicesonly.
VaSTron Valves have proven seal reliability forliquid oxygen, liquid nitrogen, liquid and naturalgas serveices as required by NASA, aerospaceindustryand oil field recovery services.
In an independent laboratory test, a VaSTronValve measured zero leakage with Helium. Aftermore than three hours submerged in liquidNitrogen at -321℉ and 145 psig the VaSTronValve then met all specification requirements!
Tight shut-off, zero leakage at temperatures as lowas -425℉. Liquid oxygen, nitrogen and liquidnatural gas.
Fire Tested
VaSTron Valves meet or exceed API 607, FourthAddition.
Sulphur Tested
VaSTron breaks through solidified sulphur inseating and bearing ares with no seal damage norinterruption of service.Make cheater bars obsolete.
