THE LEXICON OF ECOLOGIC FOOTWEAR

Our soles are abrasion resistant, flexible and offer best possible grip. The rubber and elastomeric compounds are guaranteed free from Chloralkanes and Nitrosamine. A new generation of soles is certified biodegradable within 1425 days complying with the European Directive CE 94/62.

Leathers are 100 % vegetable tanned, processed in harmony with nature and absolute free from Arsenic, Cadmium, Chrome, Lead and other harmful substances. Some grain, the marks and scars are part of the natural concept and make each pair unique.

The upper leather is hydrophobic and water repellent thru the special tanning recipe using natural grease and waxes during and after the tanning process. Therefore it is worry-free and very easy to look after. With adequate care the leather will develop its own patina and individual beauty.

We use vegetable leather (with natural breathability) linings from cow or wool from sheep. These natural materials come with documented origin and selected to provide excellent wearing comfort.

The removable extra insole is vegetable tanned and 100% natural.

All fabrics, laces and other textile materials are ökotex certified.

Our traditional board-lasted method is durable and provides arch support, superior comfort and overall foot stability and protection.

We are continuously conducting independent laboratory tests of materials and components used in our product. We are also testing waste water at treatment plants. We measure the energy expenditure per pair in the making processes. LEATHER WITH PERSONA Each cow is unique. So also it’s life pattern. The natural leather can tell stories and varies from hide to hide. This is an essential part of our story setting the standard of ecologic footwear. Our organic leather has a soul of its own, with time it may even develop an attitude. Perhaps this explains why Kavat Ecologic footwear find favour in all corners of the world

ONE COW – ONE HIDE The vegetable tanning process has been around since thousands of years and is 100 % environmentally friendly. The ecologic leather from Tärnsjö is hydrophobic and therefore highly waterproof thanks to special tannins, natural grease and waxes. The colorants are organic and derive from plants. With adequate care the leather will develop its own patina and individual beauty. Grain, marks and scars are also part of the natural concept and make each and every pair unique.

THE FINGERPRINT OF LEATHERDifferent grain pattern is natural looking at a whole hide. The grain is unique for each indi-vidual animal. Therefore pair by pair (different parts) is cut to match the grain and colour variation of the natural hide.

MARKS OF A BACKSCRATCHSome scars and marks are inevitable. They are part of animal’s life. Insects bite, or more likely the good back scratch against a tree makes eternal mark on the skin

Care instructions: Natural leather requires only little care. Keep allways your footwear clean. Remove dust and dirt with a a brush or wet cloth. Use natural oil or wax to maintain water repellency and the right shine. With adequate care the leather will develop its own patina and individual beauty. Little traces of use are also part of high-class leather and lending character to it. If wet let dry out in room temperature. Don’t store in direct sunlight or heat.
