Why is student leadership important in education?
Leadership is about the art of motivating, influencing and
directing people so that they work together to achieve the
goals of a team. It’s important for students to experience
leadership opportunities during their schooling, to learn the
art of building relationships within teams, defining identities
and achieving tasks effectively. It also provides an opportuni-
ty to learn to identify and display effective communication
and interpersonal skills. The School Leader election for 2019 is fast approaching and it is
this time of year that we as a school start to think about what being a KPS school leader
means:
To act as good examples to all other students in terms of attitude and behaviour, uniform,
punctuality and attendance.
To represent all at KPS in promoting the good name of the school in and around our school
and community.
To uphold the school expectations and help to see that others do the same.
Working alongside the KPS staff to make our school the best it can be.
I am looking forward to our future leader speeches and what they plan to offer in their
role as KPS School Captains and School Leaders. Fiona Paine
