ABSTRACT This research focused on the effects of vaccines for the
prevention of Streptococcosisdisease in the Oreochromis niloticus farm, Chonburi, Thailand for a period of 4 months; (March-June 2016). The study divided fish 2 groups including vaccinated and non-vaccinated fish. The Initial sizes of fish were 6-7 gram. Than, 2 months later, samples were collected for weighing, measuring the size and collecting fish blood to use in the hematological (red blood cells, white blood cell, percentage of hematocrit and total hemoglobin) and the immunological (plasma protein, lysozyme activity, immunoglobulin and antibody titer). The weight and length of non-vaccinated fish were increased more than vaccinated fish in each month as there was not significance. The first 2 months, vaccinated fish had white blood cell higher than non- vaccinated tilapia had quite similar with antibody titer were significant difference (p<0.05) because vaccines can boost immunity. Moreover, the hematological include red blood cells, percentage of hematocrit and total hemoglobin in vaccinated fish were higher than non-vaccinated fish and the last two factors were significantly difference (p<0.05) on March-May. The hematological level found that including
plasma protein and lysozyme activity were not significant (p>0.05). To confirm immune activity of vaccinated fish the expression of the interleukine 8 from the kidney of was conducted by reverse transcriptase PCR (RT-PCR) method. The results show that all vaccinated fish were expressed but this gene was found in some non-vaccinated fish between May and June. It suggested that non-vaccinated fish with interleukine 8 were infected by bacteria. This research may use as data for prevent, control and solve Streptococcosis disease in the farm.
