Avenue lanes and shared path are being constructed. The widening of Karel Avenue between Farrington Road and the Roe Highway underpass is now complete.
Georgiou is progressing through the on/off-ramp changes with the new Karel Avenue on-ramp to Roe Highway westbound now open, resurfacing of the Karel Avenue on-ramp to Roe Highway eastbound now complete and the Roe Highway westbound off-ramp now finish. The final works involve the widening of the Roe Highway eastbound off-ramp to Karel Avenue which is set for completion at the end of 2020.
Karel Avenue bridge over Roe Highway Works to duplicate the lanes on the Karel Avenue bridge over Roe Highway are underway, with the northern and southern bridge abutment extensions are progressing well. The team will install four bridge beams – which are manufactured out of Georgiou’s precast yard – in June which will see the closure of Roe Highway for the weekend. The works associated with the Karel Avenue bridge over the railway are underway with completion of piling to the first half of the bridge. These works will see the completion of the first half of the bridge in late 2020, with the second half lifting and completed by mid-2021. Berrigan Drive roundabout upgradeThe recent closure of Berrigan Drive enabled construction of the western portion of the upgraded Berrigan Drive and Karel Avenue roundabout. Traffic is currently travelling on a temporary roundabout to enable the remaining future southbound side of the intersection, including the shared path, to be completed.
