We are happy to have aligned the chapter with the Wounded Warrior Project, which states that the “Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) takes a holis-tic approach when serving warriors and their families to nurture the mind and body, and encourage economic em-
powerment and engagement. Through a high-touch and interactive approach, WWP hopes to foster the most successful, well-adjusted generation of wounded service members in our nation's history”.
Our first event is a fundraiser and benefit concert. We are so excited to be doing such an ambitious project! A donation of any amount is appreciated, even if only a couple of dollars! You can donate to our fundraising portal on the WWP website by clicking here. If you are near Cleveland, TX on May 23rd, come on down to the concert! The concert website is located here and the venue is at the American Legion Hall 393, 25774 HWY 321, Cleveland, TX. The concert is from 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm. Make sure to come say hi to Wes and I!
A HUGE thank you to all of the student ambassadors that have helped with our snail mail advertising cam-paign! You are appreciated!
Dear KUNSCS, I have come back to school in or-der to advance in my career. I have been working in my field for 25 years and working my way up through experience alone, but with the changing times, that is not enough and I need a degree. It seems absurd to me to spend four years studying the subjects I already know so much about. Not to mention, taking myself away from work to do so. Is there any way I can utilize my previous experiences to excel my degree plan?
-Looking to Advance
Dear Looking to Advance, You are in luck! Kaplan offers a course called EL203 that helps students convert their experienc-es into actual credits that can be used towards their degree. Throughout the course, students work on creating a portfolio of their work and life experiences to be submitted for review at the end of the term. If the Prior Learning Assessment Center decides to grant credits for the previous experience outlined in the portfolio, you could end up saving time and money on your education! For more information on the course and to find out if it is right for you contact a Kaplan Learning Advisor.
